for now: consider a few improvements for the addons section. but: accept its gonna be kind of a mess anyway in future. mess in terms of where-to-find-what and does-an-addon-do-what-it-should. of course it would be still a nice learning pool. -> rename the addon-section to something like 'user-patch-archive'
long-term: non-free addons + no quality control: - a surplus for the dev, who does not need to invest time into the addon thing. - a superficial surplus for the passive buyer, who wants to use but not program usine. reason: many add-ons do not meet usine's core quality (c'mon this is a fact). - a superficial surplus for the active buyer, who wants to use and program usine. reason: there is no long term motivation (see below).
@senso: I deeply appreciate your humility and your sense for a community spirit. but: ideals tend to become the opposite in reality... means: rather come up with hierachical ideals and it will be democratic, not the other way around my suggestion: just say: I am god, only what is worth my godly quality measurement will be incorporated into the standard usine distribution (with clear reference; for example the new skins would be clearly worth it imho), the other addon-shit I dont care a fuck about (I know this just sounded really far out, dont take it too serious). -> further u'd grant free licences to people who can add something to usine's main distribution. this would mean a small money motivation (save a few bucks a year) and a small fame motivation (ur name is mentioned somewhere cool).

that pass the quality control of sensomusic
We have discussed about this concept before. So I repeat: I'll never judge any add-ons or contribution. Of course I have my favorites add-ons, like you, but I'm not god! I can't decide which one is good and which one is not!

I'm not a programmer but i really love the option of re arranging existing patches. If u take yr time spent on working on Usine and his price, i'm really thinking Usine has a very cheap price! I don't think the add ons should be free. The amount of money involved is not huge. So like everything in life if u want something, work for it !

"generosity" is maybe the right way for tomorrow, OK. But a professional tool is supposed to be nothing else than a professional tool - even if it's a gift. I think that we usiners would not like to learn that Oliver is in need of some money. And even if Add-ons become restricted, we would understand. That's your choice, Olivier! So, maybe, you'll feel that some add-ons could be free, and other ("that pass the quality control of sensomusic ") restricted. Not a simple world!
Cheers

but mainly due to the fact most user patches do not meet pro quality (at least my scripts do not) - they more likely are experiments and proofs of what can be done.
what could be tied to gold members: 3th party modules or other stuff (C++ modules, eventually pascal scripts) that pass the quality control of sensomusic (code inspection, debugging, improvement,..).
-> its not about our work that stays in question to be paid or not: its senso's work, IMHO.

That's why there is a Usine Pro ? Isn't it? I use Usine as other use pro tools. But Pro Tools is expansive, and degidesign is a big company. In my case, I prefer to give money to people likes you who shares their knowledge. Usine free is a gift. Usine pro is the fruit of your work and I think it's normal that I have to pay for it . Add Ons have helps me a lot to deeply understand usine. When I discovered usine, I said " wow ! This is the soft I've dream for years !" I've waiting to have the money, and I've buy it. If you feel "guilty" because some people haven't the money, why not give a special offer for those who are "chomeurs " or "rmiste" or "students" like you do for inhabitants of dvt countries? They could pay 35 euros in state of 70 euros for example. Just ask them for a document that prove their situation. Or another suggestion, the possibility to pay in several times 2 x35euros per month for example? some have money, some have not. The future depends on how we share .
That's my two cents.
