the problem is in the range control, which jitters on startup. If I click 'reset', it stops the jitter and then everything works normally.

The path is a pain to trace, sorry. The output of the range goes to the midi input processing script, which applies the filter, but it also passes the values on, because they can also be set with keys on the keyboard..... those are the two control sources.

I've tried a lot of combinations. I've tried lots more 'only if changed' modules in the chain, and it doesn't seem to matter: there is still jitter on startup.

Any thoughts? I have a similar problem a lot, and I'm not sure what to do about it. It's certainly valuable to be allowed to have important controls accessible more than one way.....

I have two faders controlling a value. So the way that works is to set up a 'only if has changed' on each of the two fader inputs, and then make a "8" shaped patch, where the output of each one is patched via the 'only if has changed' to the input of the other.

This works fine in a patch. But if the two objects are in different patches, I get uncontrolled jitter. I tried putting 'wait 1' modules all over the place, and that doesn't help.

Anyone know the answer?
