I think that using the name of Usine could be a good idea, since for now, Senso won't intent any legal action, hey, will he? Something like "Usine at Work" or "Usin't Work" that could be understood as "Using Not Work"? Deleting the "e" of Usine makes we don't walk on the copyright!"Usin't Work" could finally do "UW" (U double U) which is a wide field for imagination.

About "La dynamique du spectre", as an author, I can say that a title written according to the pattern "La/la blabla du/de la blabla" should be improved. Too many titles like this; it's poor. My publisher taught me that! But keep the background idea, it sounds enigmatic and luminous (spectre/spectrum = dark/light), I like it.

ho yes, lots of VST effects and VSTi, but things are not fixed yet, it's just the beginning.For the voice, one micro for the drumer, and one for me, it will be sampled and processed in real time, for sure. A good example is to make the bass riff with the voice, usine process it with some VSTeffects to transform it in a bass sound, and finaly sample it and loop it. like that, we'll have the best of both world ( we hope ) : the "analogic power" and reactivity of the voice, and the infinite creativity of the computer (usine and VST in this case).
For the rest, some VSTi with vintage, fucky or strange sound/synth, and some VSTeffects, applied on the drums or whatever.
To explain my approach, here is what i said in another thread, but in fact it's better to put it here :
About commercial name, do you speak about this new kind of music ?In fact, i'm not a "musician", i never studied or practiced music before. But i made some kind of experimental test years ago (with SynCmodular and AnalogBox II), and i was always interested by "the sound".
A friend of mine, who is drumer, want to try something after he listened my loosy track, so here we go, and usine is perfect for wath we want to do.
I'm so exited to investigate this new world

it's my turn, i'm just at the beginning of that stuff :

so much I've mostly been working on audio live looping.
Just getting in the Sequencer part of the wonderfull Usine.
I use Usine in two ways.
- In dance or circus shows, using noises or moves of the dancer to trigger samples or treatment and also for sequencing effects or Desk automation(like 02R) when on stage myself.
- In "pure free music" for building a live set up of looper/musician.

- Tascam GigaStudio with Maple MIDI (thanks to Bsork for this excellent solution)
- Sometimes Reason 3, always with Maple MIDI, for very very strange moving pads (I like Malstr?m for that)
Usine, GigaStudio and Reason using 3 different audio card outputs, I still have one free, not enough to go out from stereo production...
Usine handles audio FX for bass and vocal, and data flows between keyboards (midi and computer) and synths. And of course now, many automation.
Hard:
- build PC Pentium IV 3GHz, 2 Go RAM
- 3 HDrives whose 1 SATA for samples
- card: Echo Audio Mia 4in 4out.
- no MIDI controller (computer keyboard, but I did not find any motorized fader there, arrgh...)

Well, all mess around now... I did five huge complex ones, none of them was running fine.
Now, I rebuild everything in tracks and it works much better. I don't know yet if it will be one workspace per piece or one for the whole scheme (and still a huge workspace!).

To have Usine and Reason playing together, I use two different ASIO drivers (M-Audio and ASIO4ALL), as well as Maple MIDI virtual ports to send MIDI from Usine to Reason.

My setup (on stage):
- macbook
- Motu Ultralite
- Lemur
- Roland FC 200
- microphone
At home: idem + a few analog FXs, modules and synths.
Then, depending on the projects: one or two midi keyboards, a fender rhodes and/or an acoustic piano, some hardware synths.
I use usine on stage mostly to play VSTi or apply FX to synths, piano, fender, controlling all this with the lemur and the FC200, but also at home for composing, experimenting, etc...
My setup, patches, workspaces are in perpetual evolution, depending on my precise musical needs, and this is why I've chosen to use Usine, because for me it's a software that really allows such freedom, without being too technical (like Max or Reaktor fo instance). I've been looking for years for "the perfect setup", but I came to the conclusion that it simply doesn't exist, it just has to change all the time (for me at least). With hardware it's possible to follow these changes, but it's heavy, expensive, and has a lot of inertia, with software it's unlimited (just by your imagination), easy to carry, but of course more "risky" (with all these "ghosts" hanging around in our computers, making them behave somtimes the wrong way). For the moment I'm experimenting with the second solution, and until now it's been working.

Generally I use a lot of patches, with two main rules:
a) never use the same Fx, Samples, sound, process in two different bands (I play in arround 10 projects, so imagine...)
b) never use a Fx, samples, sound, process more than one time during a show...Except a reverb and a limiter that I put as 'insert' in the master section.
I know that most of Usiners only have a single complex setup, personally, I have a lot of simple workspaces that I load when I need.

A new post for a new question...far less technical and maybe more interesting.
How do you use Usine and what kind of set up do you have ?
1- Hardware :
I just have my computer...maybe some MIDI controllers soon, sound card is a TASCAM US 122 on USB.
2- Software :
Usine, free reverb known as GlaceVerb (VST) and VST Rhodes MrRay73. More VST's to come.
3- Usine :
I use Usine as a live sampler (records sound and loops it), it also controls my real time effects (reverb, delays...). It also controls some sampler for additional sounds with the sequencer.
Usually I have one track per sampler (so not much with the free version
) and some effect patches on other tracks.Sequencer mode has some additional samples that give the basis of the songs usually organised as several loops (I switch manually to next one when needed).
If I manage to have all my question answered and experiment for some time for me to have the perfect set up, I will upgrade to the pro version and use Usine to control real time surround (with another sound card for sure !).
Now if you don't mind sharing your set up
