Ultimately though it is too big for me because I also use hardware music gear and don't want that big of a footprint but if there is no other option by say....Christmas, I might just do it.

According to PQLabs http://multi-touch-screen.com/product_plus.html "19" to 24" overlays are under development at the moment but their 32" 6 touch point overlay is already so expensive I don't see the 19" being cost effective (32" is $2399)

It's not a matter of W7
- no fire wire
- very, very noisy
- DCP latency is terrible, you can't use an USB card with less than 2048 audio buffer length
- very very slow, Usine with an empty wkp take arround 40% cpu.... (with my actual pc basic it takes less than 1%...)
- the graphic card is a joke...
- 12'' is definitively too small...

Even if the tactile surface is reactive, you'll do nothing with 70% of CPU load....

the 3M cost 1500€ so 300€ more than the tx2... and a surface x4...
We are looking for a grouped purchase of the 3M monitor so maybe we can have it for a lower price.
interested?

then HP TouchSmart tx2 is not powerful enough
Hi,

It is something that I don't understand very well. Do you speak about a lack in performance for audio processing or for multitouch control ?

I have a Latitude XT2 (Core2Duo 1,6 GHz), and it has to my taste enough processing power for some kind of audio processing. I suppose that it is not better than the 2+ GHz Turion of the tx2.
In all cases, they have a lot of more power than the iPad. But the iPad is very good to run multitouch audio apps, even if the audio processings are limited compared to what Usine can do of course.

Multitouch in the XT2 is not bad, but not as reactive as in the iPad. In Usine, it is not worst when playing at runtime than during design, where simply moving objects in the interface designer is a pain.
So I wonder if the "not powerful enough" verdict is related to the way that WIndows 7 has implemented the multitouch features (it must be far better in general apps, considering the power of the CPU, compared to the iPad), or if it is due to the way Usine draws things ?
On this point, it is very slow and uses a lot of CPU when GUI design (with the mouse), compared to Synthmaker for example.

Do you think that this point can be improved, and if yes, will it make a difference for multitouch control on "slow" systems like the tx2 and the XT2 ?
