The new Dell Inspirion 7000 Series featuring a 10 Point Touch display..
The 7000 Series uses forged aluminum to make it strong and lightweight. All the notebooks in the 7000 Series also support 10-finger capacitive touch and have edge to edge Corning Gorilla Glass over the screen for durability.

prices are quite ok. ~ 900€ for the 15" i7U 1TB 8GB model and as usual :( much cheaper (even with tax) in the US = $900 = €665.12 for the same setup..cmon

10-Point Multitouch Technology
All ten fingers can accurately interact with the screen at once, using simple, intuitive gestures for precise control with greater accuracy and flexibility.

the gesture capabilities are usually provided by a software/operating system, for instance in windows 8

I picked up an acer aspire v5 touch, and while its not crasy horse power (i5, 4gb,750gb) its descent, quite slim, got backlighted keys and descently priced ( got it for 740e) . the multitouch capacitive screen is exellent, support up to 10 poInts and works like a charm with usine. Very fast response and accuracy, much better than my desktop optical dell. If need portable power i guess asus is the way to go.. As i lready had a horsepowerdesktop, i personally chosen the liter cheaper way, and will use as a remote if not powerfull enough, but probably better for most to take a single powered laptop..
Anyway we enter atlast the affordable capacitive stuff! back to patching :)
thanks for recommendation, will keep in mind . . .

It could have been a problem with my unit. I have a Dell lattitude e6420. There are signs I may have a bad motherboard.

Don't know if you can still get one with a touchscreen, though, anyway.

I'm interested in changing my laptop too. I'm looking for a touchscreen one, but I use a RME fireface sound device. So, I need a firewire port (or express card...). Any idea is welcome !
I think you'll have to choose between touchscreen and your fireface 400 ;) If not tell me your choice, I'm interested.

Obviously, capacitive touch is excellent!!!

Just few points . . .

1. It is not as slim as one would expect from ASUS home page. the real thickness of this PC here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asu ... 246.0.html
bit different photos isn't it? :)
2. about this "incredible sound". I don't think this epithet make much sense for musicians. If you really think that in-built sound card is good enough, then you are lucky, if not - this extra is useless, but it $$$ of course.
3. the sam about about IPS panel. really good display technology, especial if you watching movies from distance and different angles. But again it does not make much sense if you it keep one meter distance. [fore example playing Usine]
4. Low end price anyway is very good, but how about configuration?
"possible configuration, we know that prices in the US will range from $699 at the low end all the way up to $2,000."

i noticed, that there is quite some demand for multi-touch user interfaces. the big guys like ableton/reason/cubase totally lack multi-touch support and interface capabilities. usine should really put out some win8 multi-touch videos to push some sales
