Unfortunately I'm not living near you.
But I can say out of experience you can opt for Usine over Audiomulch with your eyes closed.
I have been using Usine since the very beginning, migrating from Reaktor.
I have also a pretty complex setup with lots of audio & midi live processing,
made several audio and midi-loopers and processing tools (even a full fledged crazy sequencer/drummachine) from scratch and have been using them on critical moments on stage and in the studio.
Currently working with lots of outboard connected and made a complete 'total recall' preset system (with MIDI program changes for all outboard) in just 2 hours.
I must say I had a hard time migrating patches to the new Hollyhock version (they weren't fully compatible). But for the moment I'm migrating my new Hollyhock patches from Windows to OSX without problems.
At the time Hollyhock just came out, I tried all other options before starting all over again. I got into Bidule, AudioMulch, Max/MSP/Max4Live, PureData, Flowstone, FruityLoops,...
After a while I realized Usine is the best/most flexible/easiest/fastest/...
The new Bitwig Studio looks promising too, but modular environment is not yet a fact (I'll have to see that
) and don't know about CPU-load? So IMHO not so interesting if you're a musician/producer and not a DJ/producer.
The cool thing about Usine is you just use what you need so you can reduce CPU-load significantly.
Another big plus is that you can use VST's inside your own creations or make new GUI's for your favourite plugs (for use on stage or with touchscreen for example) or use them in ways that would prove pretty difficult in any other software (like putting LFO's on parameters).
just go for it, Usine is way ahead! And it keeps on raining updates...
So if you have any specific questions, I would be glad to help you if I can!
greetings & all the best,
Andrew
(current setup: mini mac, ipad mini, livid code controller, BCR2000, Dave Smith Tetra synth, MicroModular synth, EWI4000S synth/windcontroller, foot controller, Handsonic HPD-20, RME UC, MOTU microlite, Ploytec PL squared synth, tenor saxophone with stompboxes and microphone (live input) + VST effects/synths: Reaktor, Fabfilter, U-he, Synplant, Stillwell, ... -> everything is going in and out Usine & still works perfect @ 80% CPU load, total recall, 14 track live recording on stage, touchscreen operation, sending and receiving MIDI to VJ & fellow musicians -> trust me, Usine rocks the place)Statistics: Posted by AndrewChi — 07 May 2014, 15:14
