So here is probably the deal, just like I was leading to.
So when you place patches in a rack, they dynamically link up with the previous input. So lets say you have a Device Input that sends to Usine MIDI, the next patch would have a basic MIDI IN, then a MIDI out, etc...
This is where I believe there was an issue, The rack when you first open a workspace has an empty patch, you put your plugin patch after this empty patch. If you leave the empty patch then you are essentially "breaking the MIDI chain".
Sometimes when you do place the plugin or patch after this then delete the empty patch, it does not dynamically link up. So sometimes having another device and then reordering them fixes this link. Once you get used to the routing and understanding of the inputs and outputs and how to debug the chain it all becomes quite simple.

Did you get MIDI at the INPUT section device IN KEYSTUDIO?
This will be from the Device to USINE MIDI.
Seriously let me know, I remember at one time running into a bug where the first patch in the rack would not receive MIDI.
If you have a MIDI Thru patch or something else in between you could re-order them and it would recognize. Obviously if you are not getting MIDI from you device this wont be the case.

with my actual configuration (no usb audio interface-just macbook hardware) midi won't come to the patch.
Audio is running ok although i cannot record anything..

We shall get this figured, it is probably something simple.
1. So you see the Top header Blue indication when a Note is hit?
2. Do you see a blue indication or horizontal bar under the IN KEYSTUDIO when a Note is hit?
If you are seeing response at both the Top Header and the actual input device IN KEYSTUDIO but not at the patch, your Keystudio and Devices are setup correctly.
1. First open the IN KEYSTUDIO patch and debug there to see if there is actual MIDI coming in from your KEYSTUDIO to Usine.
If this is true then it might just be a simple fix, I recall an issue I had in the past.
Let me know if you are even getting MIDI from your Device into USINE first and I can help you from there.
As far as Retina displays etc...I am a Windows user so I am not sure regarding your display problem. I did see where Senso responded regarding your graphics query. You should focus on one thing at a time, it should be easy to get you up and running first with your MIDI, then maybe we can discuss more about graphics in your other thread.
First things first, check your Incoming IN KEYSTUDIO and make sure MIDI is even getting into the Rack.

Have you tried starting the audio engine?
Top Left there is the Audio Engine button.
If you are not using an audio card and just want MIDI you need to go to the Settings Panel where the Audio card is and set this to NO Audio. In order to run Audio and MIDI you need the Engine started.
Also I just noticed:
At the Top header next to the small Green Audio faders there usually is a MIDI indicator which is represented by blue bars. I am not seeing this. I don't know if its the picture or its not there.
Even though you created the MIDI device in the Devices panel, the MIDI device might not be hooked up. If you go to the settings panel, make sure the MIDI device is enabled. If it is try Rescanning and Resetting the devices from this panel. It might be that your device is not properly recognized.
Also deleting the Device from the Device Panel, Disable in the Settings and Reset the device and Re-Enable from the settings panel. This should regenerate the Device in the Panel. Completely Delete and regenerate and try this out with the Engine started. See if you see the blue MIDI indicator. You can also double click the patch IN KEYSTUDIO in the input of the rack to open the Device right where the MIDI comes in to debug if anything is coming in at all.
I have an Arturia Beatstep that likes to not be recognized sometimes, and others too have had issues related to Windows, when USB Device ID's change. Sometimes it is confusing, but I just disable, reset, and re-enable usually to get mine to work. Some cases you might want to delete the Device from the panel and regenerate.

Welcome!
So each rack has an input located on the top. When you enable the MIDI devices from the Setup Panel they populated the Devices Panel as you have shown. To use your specific MIDI input from the Devices Panel, Make sure you Drag & Drop this device to the top input box for the Rack you want to control.
In some cases you might add patches and find that you are not receiving MIDI to the patch. Another way to debug or check and see if you are receiving Notes or MIDI CC is to select the Square Node of the wire from the MIDI IN to the Plugin or module.
If you find that MIDI is not coming in and you are using two patches, sometimes Drag & Drop the second Patch to position it above, Then Drag & Drop to position it back below the first patch. This will initialize the Common MIDI IN and OUT so that they send to the next device in the rack.
