If you select the sub-patch and look here there is a reorganize section - force reorganize that will do a little clever reorganize.
Like if you have 20 faders, in the layout it will lay them out in order, rather all on top of eachother.

I agree, the reorganize button is nifty in a pinch...but definitely needs some input parameters.

I have seen people asking for multitouch matrix, so this coud also be nice workaround.
