Using the graphical 'DivX Converter', after changing the audio output of added video files to mp3 (320kb), they seem to play fine.
I've also just use ffmpeg to convert and deinterlace videos from my camera, to .mov and .mkv formats with mp3 audio (libmp3lame) and they also play fine. So videos should play fine provided we convert the audio stream to mp3.

EDIT: Ok, Cool. The only two that work from that page are the .mkv files labelled WiegelesHeliSki and Sintel (DivXPlus). These report a framerate of 24 fps (which is the default framerate setting in Usine I think. The other videos report 25fps, so there's something.
I'm now re-coding the failures in various programs/converters using various audio codecs to try and narrow stuff down further.
I get audio with this. Maybe we need some more information about type of encoding.
