Re: FM & PM synthesis in HH4
Thank you for your explanations, Sylvain. Yes I noticed too that patches can become CPU heavy. Yet now I really want to try and make music without any VST at all because I'm bored with all these hanging notes which always occur whatever I do, so that means getting rid of all my Midi and Audio VSTs a...

Re: FM & PM synthesis in HH4
Thank you very much Sylvain. Well done ! At first look, just a couple of questions: What is the role of the "On activation" module wired to the sync inlet of the oscillator? (in fact, what is the use of the sync inlet?) And also, I notice you used a Stepped point data generator in decibels (-80/0) t...

Re: FM & PM synthesis in HH4
Just in case somebody else is interested in FM synthesis in Usine, here is the basic patch that works for me so far, with one carrier and one modulator. Of course to use it really you need to add all sorts of things like envelope for the modulator OSC, mod fader, etc. FM1.jpg Shortcomings are : - fe...

Re: FM & PM synthesis in HH4
Thank you Sylvain for your reply ! Here is an example of a patch I did while trying to produce Phase Modulation. Unfortunately it does not sound like a 2-OP PM synth like it should. Can you see a mistake in my patch? Please let me know how I can make it better. Besides I would really like to see you...

FM & PM synthesis in HH4
Hi, I have spent quite a few hours exploring synthesis possibilities in HH4, in particular Frequency Modulation, which I am fond of. I have found that pure FM synthesis seems to work well in HH4. However this method of synthesis (even with the new FM osc) quickly produces raw, wild sounds, and provo...

Many thanks Oli ! the thing is I want to be able to send various audio streams, each to a definable RANGE of IP addresses. The receivers will be mainly Android smartphones. I use the VBAN protocol for that, and it works pretty well as there is a range of software for sending and receiving the VBAN a...

Hello Oli and thanks a lot. I have used the broadcast 255 address previously but i have dismissed it for now because some android devices don't receive the stream this way. Besides I need to be able to send say 4 different streams to 4 different address ranges. e.g. 192.168.1.0/64, 192.168.1.65/123,...

@ x.iso Yes it's true that some xoxos plugins are a little buggy. But most of them are outstanding and extraordinary in concept. I'm particularly fond of the physical modeling ones. The animal series... Fauna is outstanding for example. The percussion stuff is great too ( Surface,...). I just tried ...

Hello Lib, actually I never used total ppq before, but I like the idea in Sylvain's basic polyrhythmic patch (thank you Sylvain). Lib, your idea seems like a good one, will you let us know if it works ok? I also like to use midi vst sequencers, so I am interested in this new method... I will also tr...

Hi Lib, I am myself very much into polyrhythmic music and I modified two Usine original patches to include the possibilities to use 5,7 and 9 subdivisions. I modified Midi Step Sequencer Groove and Midi Step Sequencer Melody this way. If you want I can send them to you and explain to you how to add ...

Thank you Sylvain. I think VST plugins can send back information to the DAW about the real parameters names and values (not 0-1). Here is how a VST Airwindows plugin appears in Reaper, with three different positions of the parameters. I was wondering if it was possible in Usine, too. http://www.sens...

I would like to be able to show the real parameter values of the GUI-less Airwindows VST plugins. I know I can get create faders with values from 0 to 1 t control the parameters. However, "real" values (for example cutoff frequency, or even stepped "console type") are obviously coded inside the plug...

In the manual, it says you can have up to 32 midi presets in the Piano Roll. http://www.sensomusic.org/manual/en/modules/midi/midi-pianoroll I can only have access to 8, then things are blocked at preset 8, even if I access the preset inlet directly in the patch. How do I access the remaining 24 pre...

Thank you ! the modified patch now works ok, the probability parameters are great... and the presets are recalled without bugs. I understand that the add-ons are made by users and are not officially part of Usine, so I guess I will have to test each one thoroughly before I decide to use it. Many tha...

I am just discovering Usine, this is my first post. I think the Usine environment is great. I tried tremoresque and liked it a lot. However there is indeed a strange behaviour : the first line (kick) is always wrong when recalling a preset : it copies the parameters of line 2 instead. I am wondering...
