We have decided to suspend the free add-ons download. You now must be a Gold Member, as it was by the past.

We took this decision after a Pro version has been uploaded on various pirate sites.

Sensomusic made important efforts to stay with a different commercial approach:
- Free version,
- Usine Pro is free for inhabitants of developing countries,
- Keep the Pro license at the lowest price as possible,
- Add-ons for free,
- etc.

It will be harder than expected.

We still believe in the humanity but we are obliged to make some small arrangements.
All the Sensomusic team and the Community apologize because this decision is inequitable and we know that most of user's are honest.

As a new user, i was about to have a look at the addons this evening. Looks like i picked a bad time to take an interest in usine.
Some people respect nothing but their own greed and ego, so it doesn't suprise me when i see them picking on small independent developers like you. If you tell them they are ruining someone's life, they will probably just give you a retarded laugh.
And i see it just happened 2 weeks ago. Sorry to hear about this.

So what's a gold account? I can't really afford to buy the pro version just yet, but is the gold account something different?

yes it's very disappointing they target such independant, already so much offering soft...
the free version is awesomely functionnal. they are just b_è"''èà-ds.
it's really sad for new users like you systematic, but yes it's probably the best way to ensure loyal custommers and futur
development to lock addons like previously,..

the gold account is activated when getting usine pro, thus allowing addon access, like it was before they went free.

I was renewing my license tonight because I just started a new band for the first time in a year. And as a small counteraction to this sad revelation, my friends.
I always tell people: if there's one developer I want to help financially, to the limited degree that I can, it's Olivier Sens.
The psychology of the um... not sure what you call it when you don't even have to crack the software... but crack scene was beautifully put in a video I watched the other day (which I'll post if I re-find it) but in essence: even those who have no skills want to participate, so they upload things like Usine so they can put their names up in ascii (lol). Of course, the "real" crackers thing EVEN LESS of those people than they did before... so pointless.

But Usine doesn't even come with any copy protection for the annoying little warez kiddies to even crack?!?

Ah well, at least with the speed you develop Usine their cracked versions will soon be out of date and lacking new features :)

Very disappointing. May be there is some commercial goal with this illegal upload :(

Just thinking : if someone uploaded the pro-version, he should have access on gold member section so what difference with add-ons ?:(...

I mentioned that to Olivier in an email. I think he needs to watch and record the time the add-ons are downloaded, and it might give a clue to who pirates them. Though, i think it's not something you could actually prove. It's just a bad situation.

Hi , bad new , I believe that GDlive is right ! to upload a pro version you must have an access to download it
so it 'll be a gold member who put it on the web ? if this is this it's really disgusting
and what can you do now to avoid this
and yes it could be a commercial goal because with usine
you can disturb a lot of well known label
wish you better days

That's kind of what I was getting at... it's ludicrous. It's like the talented guy we all know who really, really wants to be in a band but just don't got it. Not that, nowadays, that's any bar to success.

I actually hadn't consciously noticed that Usine has no copy protection until this happened... which is odd, since the other DAW I update semi-anually, FL, has you download a regedit file. I've no idea how that's supposed to work; they're the only ones I've ever heard of doing that. Then again, they make house music so who knows what's up in their noggins?

I wouldn't think that anyone who even gets what Usine is capable of would be a script kiddie... with the SDK a programmer could replicate pretty much anything in the bonus modules anyways, correct? So strange. What a way to get "fame" - even we avant digital music weirdos aren't that hopeless  Notably I am not one, something I damn myself for every day though the fact that my class of 3 learning BASIC on our school's single IIc fell apart cuz the guy they got from 3M to come tutor we nerdlings got really sick and couldn't return... and there wasn't really a lot of coders around these parts then, so it's just a quirk of fate.

Olivier, you just rock and I'm so, so glad you shared Usine with the world despite the fact that it costs you more time and resources than almost anything else you could choose to do could possibly cause... and I now know this on a personal level as I'm celebrating my 1 year anniversary of working daily on my "fixing everything about computer-aided music creation and performance" project. Being a coder would really, really come in handy when my programmer parter is available about 0.5% of the time.

Maybe on the bright side, and not saying that it is necessarily a good thing, but a copy of Usine on pirate sites might increase exposure and ultimately lead to new paying users?
Also even if the free addons continued to be available, and assuming nobody uploaded any new Usine updates, would the pirate users not realize quick enough that they need the very constant updates to enjoy all of the latest addons?

Here's another thought Senso, Would it be difficult to make it so that only people who had the very latest version installed could download addons from the Usine browser and then only gold members able to download from the website but regular members able to browse the addons 'read only'?

Anyways, here's hoping all those fools realize what an amazing piece of software Usine is and that they do the right thing and PAY UP!!!

Sad to see this - it's not an expensive license and you get soooo much value, why bother pirating it?!?

People like to betray themself.("I thought it`s free soft"), so mentioning the comercial status of Usine Pro in the About Box may help a bit by forcing the " To steal or not to steal" decision.

Sad to see that !!
How can people rob independant workers ? even when Usine free version was only restrictided to no sub patches & no scripts I suscribed it because it was already a great (and even greater at every new version) and powerfull soft with an excelent community ... I converted several people to usine but I always encouraged them to buy it ... the ratio price / power and quality is so cheap ...
En attendant cordialement l'apocalypse ... 100% Usine !!

this is not cool. and unfortunately it is almost impossible to avoid these days. I can understand why addons are not free anymore. And a good way to help encourage users to buy is for some patch masters to create some very brilliant addons to showcase the power of usine.

Hi,
I was looking for an app like Usine for ages, even started to develop my own. Thank you, you have already made it, and it looks awesome in levels which would take forever for me to achieve. It worth much more than its current price, imho. However the free download links are not working. Is this a temporary situation?

I cannot wait to try out Usine.

Thanks.
