[4.2 beta 5]
Multi-Core Version

Major release with more than 100 improvements.
This is probably the most stable Usine we never had but is still a beta version because new real multi-core optimization.
Take a look on the demo files to have an idea of what we can now do with Usine, especially in personal interface design.

improvements
- real Multi-Core CPU optimization
- auto reorganization of windows in the interface builder: It's an option of the IB layout (see the manual)
Image
- new dashboard and master synchro design,
Image
- auto show option in the conductor lite window
Image
- new midi mode option "Interface builder windows order"
- get buses list module
- current patch name module
- the key-learn steps on fader are proportional to the key stroke speed.
- new option in the visible parameter of controls like fader, switches, etc: set the position 'parent Interface builder'.
- new 'Mouse pressed' & "double click" outlets in the Image and Text (comment) modules
- new 'Mouse X' and 'Mouse Y' outlets in the Image module to get the Mouse position on the
- new layouts options in the Interface Builder
Image
- in global Interface navigation bar, you can adjust the number of speed buttons to display.
Image
- new 'Send Midi to Usine' module which sends midi data to Usine itself, exactly like if it was send from an external midi device.
- new inlets in the dashboard module to show the setup or the waveplayer windows.
- midi out module can send codes to different channels at the same time
- new color inlet in the Button module
- vertical scroll enabled in the interface builder
- easy move wire mode in patch

fixed bugs
- the show remote button [R] doesn't work properly
- Timer bug on the navigation bar (touch screen mode)

- the VST windows position are now memorized
- many GUI bugs and details solved.

compatibility notes
- the new channel management of the midi out module can cause some backward compatibility problems.

This version is actually optimized for dual core but the quad-core version will arrive very soon.

Okie dokey (Minnesota province regionalism for: cool, Daddy-O)

Is there anything that I should do, having a quadcore, to help Usine think it's a dual in order to run more stably?
Or does it just detect SSE3 or something and work from there?
When I read the manual for my processor and motherboard (I know... I really do read manuals lol) I noticed there's new SSE and I was surprised as I'd not seen it mentioned by any of my coder friends.

you have nothing to do all is supposed to be automatic: just choose "bi thread/dual-core" in the setup.

This is as many new features and functionality improvements as some major software companies add as a paid upgrade once every year and we get it for free as a .1 update after only a few months...U rock!

Any chance of an alternate download link for VST and standalone ? Twice now the download thinks it is finished halfway done and the file is incomplete. It is agonizing waiting at 10-15K/Sec to see if it is going to be anincomplete file again...
Or should I just remain patient?

the server is probably saturated?
Unfortunately, no download mirror is available.

And many thanks from me too!

...but how do I use the "easy move wire mode in patch"? I'm sure it's simple, but I couldn't find anything in the manual, and all my tries with ctrl/alt/shift etc didn't work.

@bsork
click on an inlet ( where you have something wired ) :
you could see a white square
now move this square to an other inlet ( keep mouse down )
stop mouse , your wire has moved to the new inlet...

not sure my english is clear..;-)

it seems it is restricted to moving wires from one pin to another on the same patch or object. Still extremely usefull though!

Fantastic stuff Senso - what advantages are there to using single or bi thread modes for multi core use?

Nope. I managed to download the VST version earlier today but the standalone just won't make it past 25-30MB and then suddenly the download is finished(but incomplete. I even tried from a different computer...
I've never had this problem here before, even right after the release of a new version when things might be bogged down.
Also sensomusic.com has also been very slow for me (in Western Canada) the last few days...

[edit: ok, got it. Opening eight concurrent connections to the file and choking everyone else out for four minutes worked great...sorry!]

I have to say I am totally impressed with the dual core optimization! If quad core is anywhere near this effective then I am going to be very excited indeed.
It is a bit difficult though to balance cpu load as Usine is deciding which track to assign to which core somewhat whimsicly so looking at your taskmanager while you load estimated max cpu load test patches before loading the intended patches is essential.

Senso, is the quad core support intended for v4.2?
