Here is a demo video of some of new features of Usine v5, especially the multi-touch and gestures recognition.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS6xh5B7FLE
Usine v5 will be available in few month, or perhaps earlier as a beta version.
It's the major improvement since the v1, based on the same concept but with a totally new design and ergonomics.

This is great!
I am always amazed at how far Usine has progressed even in the short time I have been using it,
now with this new version even more people are going to be seeing the potential of Usine.
Now I need a multi touch display!

Olivier, you are really incredible !
I am afraid that I will have to buy another computer...
By the way, what did you use for the demo ?
Is the lag time caused by Windows, Usine, or does it need a faster machine ?
En tout cas : chapeau !

just few comments about the demo :
- the demo was made by the slowest PC of the word so the latency looks sometime very high. But It's only a display (graphic) latency, the touch speed isn't affected. As usual in Usine the graphic engine has a very low priority.
- the actual version is totally unoptimized, and you can expect spectacular improvement in the final release.
- in the demo I use new Usine layouts like antialised fonts, rounded panels, gradients colors, etc. Very nice but not really CPU friendly. Fortunately, you can change the layout to something faster to compute if you have a slow machine.

noticed the new way of sequencing velocity

Posted: 12 Oct 2009, 21:52
by senso
yes you can adjust the velocity of a cell moving the mouse (or finger) up and down.
nb : the sequencer was directly inspired by your 'square' addon

Posted: 21 Oct 2009, 13:10
by senso

Posted: 21 Oct 2009, 14:40
by cmodica
And what about the wokspace built with 4.X ?
Will it be possible to worrk with them in 5.X ?
Will i need to adapt them, or totaly build an other one ?

by senso
yes except small details :
- some layouts will be lost.
- some referenced troubles if you use the IML language to manage the visibility of panels in your patches.
We'll make a considerable effort to ensure the compatibility.

The only thing I can say except "YES! I love it!" thus far is that it took me an incredibly embarassingly long time to find the Library - somehow right clicking three dozen times only belatedly led me to notice the rather large Library button next to the start arrows...
