What is the best method for handling external .png and other files related to an add-on?

Resources attached to some of my patches has been a question for some time, and I was hoping to get some clarity on how to handle and if they would upload and download properly.

I was also curious on how the in-application download would handle these. Do the .png become compiled within a .pat file?
I just recently had some files not open their .png correctly so I am almost led to believe they do not.

Maybe the best way is to create a directory within the resources folder of Usine as a reference and add the files onto a wiki?

Just some curiosities and questions.

export patch/rack/workspace should put all needed external files (wav, png) with your exported work with correct paths, then just zip it and upload.
