Jack audio and Usine
hello,
did someone already succeed to run Usine with Jack audio??
I set it up in a way that Jack use my sound card (M-audio A410) but it seems that Usine refuses to start the asio engine although it recognizes the Jackrouter as a device. But i have noticed that usine is not recognized as a client of Jack..
Any ideas are welcome!

you use jack with windows, linux...?
anyway, sometimes it's easier to use a second sound card to route audio to different software..? depending on what you want to achieve..

jack seems to work fine but is complex configure.

I never managed to get Jack to work properly on windows with any audio software, latency was always huge and sound quality poor no matter what the settings. Jack in Windows is a great idea but still needs a little more work yet.
I managed to get Jack work fine with Ableton and Max msp but i was wondering if it need special settings to get it work with usine...Olivier did you achieve that? If yes, how?
Thanks for your answers.
Thanks for your answers.
As you've already found out on KVR, I made Jack work to some extent with Usine and Reason, but it never got to a usable state. Reading those old posts now, I guess I had some driver conflicts that caused the pops'n'clicks, and I suppose I tried to find a solution then, but without luck. Anyway, I was and still am on XP, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if you get some other problems with Win7. Hopefulle some of the bugs with connections and such has been ironed out, but I don't really know.
What will you be using Jack for? Maybe ASIO4ALL or the the eXT Rewire VST is a better solution to what you're after?

i would like to use jack to get some audio from Pure Data and route some audio from usine to Pure Data.
I don't know about the possibilities you mentioned with Asio4all and eXT Rewire VST, i will check it out.
But the best would be to use only one soundcard (i have got a M-Audio A410).
And it is really frustrating as Jack looks perfect for that.
At the begining i had problem with configuring Pure Data, it didn't want to start but i found out that you need to set up the sample rate in the set up of your program as it is in Jack (44100 or 48000 hz). Also the same number of audio input and audio output should be set up.
I tried as well with the demo of Audiomulch and it is working fine. So all the program i tested are working fine except usine, arghhh...
It definitly looks like an asio conflict, as when i tell usine to use jackrouter as the soundcard, it refuses to start audio engine as if it recognizes that the soundcard is already used by another program (even if usine is the only one in Jack).
