Can't get Midi feedback to remote controller to work
Hi,
I'm new to Usine and I'm trying to remote control it with my Behringer BCR2000 which has "endless" rotary knobs.
What I did so far:
Activated the BCR Midi input and output port in the setup menu. Set the BCR Midi out as "is remote".
Assigned a knob of the BCR2000 to the master fader with the midi learn function in the global remote menu and activated the "remote" button.
Now I can move the master fader with my knob but if I move the master fader on screen with mouse the LED of my knob isn't moving, also if I activate another snap with a different master fader setting the LED doesn't get updated which means I get parameter jumps if I move the knob.
Am I missing here something?

hi nofish,
I have a BCR2000 too, and it's working perfectly.
I dont know what you'r missing, what you make seem's ok.
To check if the master knob send the remote midi code, you can active the trace option in the midi in section of the setup window, after that move the master fader with the mouse, you should see the midi commande sent, on the right of the global tempo. if it's ok, the problem should be on the BCR side, if it's not, the problem is on the usine side.
Hope it help.
PS : is you'r BCR connected with USB or Midi ?
Mine is with midi, besauce the USB just dont work (Grrrrrrr !)

Thanks for quick reply.
So you are saying Midi feedback is also NOT working for you if you have the BCR connected with USB like I have?
Well, that doesn't solve the problem but at least then I know I'm not the only one..
Maybe sb else know a solution? (I'd prefer connecting it with USB).
edit: Just checked the Trace option. If I move the master fader with the mouse and the BCR is connected with USB it doesn't show it in the trace list. (only the incoming events).
Do you have the same behaviour when the BCR is connected with USB?

In fact, my BCR just not work at all if i connect it by USB, it not sending or revieving midi event (not only with usine, checked with midi ox).
It's unfortunatly a known problem with the USB driver, it's depend of you'r config.
I highly recommand you to use the midi connection instead of the USB.

Hi nofish,
I don't have a BCR myself and I've never tried one, and I don't have a controller usable as a "remote", but..: Since all the knobs are "endless rotary encoders", have you checked the "mode" of the MIDI learn in Usine?
It should be set to "Relative" since the messages sent and received would be of the +/-1 kind. I suppose any kind of midi thru/echo function on the BCR (if that's an option) should be turned of to avoid midi feedback loops as well. (If you get Usine to send the messages, that is.)

I use the BCR everyday without any problem
To activate the remote option you have to activate the midi driver (switch on) and switch the remote button on too.
normally should work...

Do you have the BCR connected with USB or with Midi (standalone mode)?
I have tested with Midi connection and it works with no problems.
With USB connection I got it to recieve the Midi feedback only in one session and I was quite happy, but next time I started Usine it didn`t work again. Dont know whats going on here. I have done all the settings described here.
PS: Just getting deeper into Usine and - this is such a powerfull beast!
Even with the free version which I'm testing at the moment you have so much possibilities.

I use two BCR, one in USB mode, another in midi mode connected to the first BCR.
Be careful, some time the name of the controlers can changes, and the order too:
sometime windows call it
BCR 2000 usb device (1)
BCR 2000 usb device (2)
I don't really know why...(???)
If It use to work, that's probably because you dont choose the right real driver name: BCR 2000 usb device (1) insteed BCR 2000 usb device (2) or inverse?
