Chaining workspaces?
Hi, (I dont' know if it's already been answered)
I'm building my liveset with Usine, and I've a workspace for each song...the problem it's that every workspace take many seconds to load, so I'd like to know if there's a way to switch quickly between different workspace. I read in the manual about Conductor and the chaining workspace option, but I dont' know how to do that...
thanks

I've never tried it (or maybe I have a long time ago...), but I reckon that the Next Workspace file is loaded when you click the Next button on the last scene. The loading itself won't be any faster though, and you have to update all the workspaces except the last one with the next workspace, so if you're using a lot of workspaces and like to swap the song order a lot it's a bit unpractical.
Hm - maybe this is a feature request for a "song list" function? A file with the workspaces ordered, and a similar function in the Conductor to the existing Next Workspace.

Hello,
+1 with Bsork, "song list" function is very good idea.

the song list is a good idea but I'm not sure that it will solved the pb of maxdis: it can take a while to load each wkp espacially if you have a lot of vst's.
the solution could be to 'preload' wkp of the song list but we'll probably get into a dramatic leak of memory...
So if your set is made of very similar wkp (I mean almost the same vst loaded), the conductor is the best solution?

I think so, but I'm using the sequencer on every workspace, and it's loaded with many long wavs files, so I think they are the cause for the long loading time...senso wrote:So if your set is made of very similar wkp (I mean almost the same vst loaded), the conductor is the best solution?
Same for me. My solution is to put all together in the same big WKP.maxdis wrote:I'm using the sequencer on every workspace, and it's loaded with many long wavs files, so I think they are the cause for the long loading time...
Very long to load first, but then it's OK. And I can change the order whenever I like. All is in the Conductor. I use User Curve to change tempo and bar length when changing songs (sometimes a bit tricky).
Memory issue: If you look at the 'SeqWave' module in your wave patches, you can change the 'location' options. Choose "file".

about song list.
a good idea.
just wonder if it is possible to somehow preload other workspaces, so you can make smooth transitions from different workspaces?

I'm affraid not. But since Usiners make bigger and bigger WKP, I bet that Olivier will think about it.amiga909 wrote:I just wonder if it is possible to somehow preload other workspaces, so you can make smooth transitions

Hello !
is there a way to load automaticaly the next workspaces,
without clicking manualy on "next" ?
thanks

if you use the sequencer, will be easy, a user curve for example can trigger a bus
if your workspace has a precise length, and if you don't use the sequencer , you can built a patch with counter( check the sub patch count milliseconds and adapt it )

Thx for your answer Nay seven

Yes I'm using the seq for this WSP.
So this can be a simple idea
but where can I get the link beetween the seq (with a user curve) and the "next" from the conductor
I can only see a midi learn if I do a right click on the "next" of the( light) conductor
may be a "conductor" module on the seq ?
but I can get a usercurve !!!
ps : may be a smpte on the next Workspace would be easier

data buses are perfect for the job..?but where can I get the link beetween the seq (with a user curve) and the "next" from the conductor
