Trying to communicate data between subpatch, i've came across a strange problem:

On my home computer (PC1), i'm not ablle to use OSC inside Usine to communicate between patch. The monitoring doesn't show any activity. But, if i send data through OSC to a second computer (PC 2), the PC 2 receive the OSC message.

If i send data through OSC from PC 2 to PC 1, it also works!!!!!!

From PC 2 to PC 2, so inside Usine, it works. But not from PC 1 to PC 1!!!!!!!!!!

My brain is also going to crash as wrote Cmodica.

To resume:

From Pc 2 to Pc 1 =ok
From pc 1 to Pc 2 =ok
From Pc 2 to Pc 2 =ok
From Pc 1 to Pc 1 =No osc message are transmitted...using default ip, lan ip or loopback ip doesn't change anything.

I've got also this strange error on the two PC: "socket permission denied". Even after resetting and reinstalling Tcp/Ip Protocol, and more even after a fresh OS reinstall on the Pc2.

PC 2 is usefull at home to throw idea, it's not my main pc dedicated to music, but as i wanted to elaborate my patch on it, it's really a pain.

Google have not been my friend with request OSC and problems...Any network expert here?

hy ethnix73,
"socket permission denied"
make me think about firewall permission.
something to verify is if the firewall on each PC is blocking the socket trafic.

hope it help

On my computers it was a firewall problem. Are you sure you don't have a firewall on your PC 1 ?
It seems t be strange if you don't have any firewall ... Perhaps the windows default firewall ?

If you find a firewall, disconnect it ad retry OSC with Usine. If it is ok it is a firawall configuration problem ... if not ... don't crash your brain, you will find !!

i doesn't have any firewall. And what's really strange is that it works from pc1 to pc 2, and from pc 2 t pc 1, but not inside pc 1 itself....

Using Braun (an OSC data visualiser), i've seen that Usine OSC send module is working (i'm always in the case PC 1 to PC 1).

Now, i know that it comes from the receive function. Will goes on looking for a solution to this problem.

i've got using Braun and Usine at the same time...And with this bug Usine receive OSC message!!!!

I open Usine and put and OSC send and random data module. I enter my LAN adress, with send and broadcast enable, and any port. I open braun. i set the port to 4444 ( as Braun onlylisten on this port ). And then i put the broadcast option off. After a few seconds, Braun has a bug and close himself. And then suddenly. Usine receive OSC message!!!!!!!

I enable one more time broadcast, and Usine doesn't receive anymore OSC message. I deactivate broadcast, but Usine doesn't receive anymore OSC message.

Really weird!

the OSC send module seems to have pb to send to 'localhost'.
On my computer(s), the 'send to localhost' works fine only if the lan wire is connected to the network.
I know that I have to check it...

I'm about to make a multi-touch control interface with usine to control Reaktor 5 via OSC but i don't get it running for some reason. I would be pleased if someone could give me a simple step by step instruction. I realy have no clue how to set up both programs to control a parameter in reaktor.

hello and welcome sltp
you found an old thread here ! :)

many things to know /check :

have you try the add-ons named OSC Pack..?
do you use Reaktor standalone or VST ( if VST no support for OSC sadly )
when you try , which type of issue have you..?
firewall running ( set it off to check)...?

Well i was searching the forum for some informations about it but i just found old threads and couldn't start a new one since i give a reply so i decided to ask here.
However i'm completely new to the OSC thing and unfortunately didn't had much time to spend with Usine so far. I stuck at the basics at the moment. I'm running both programms standalone on the same machine and couldn't get the OSC connected correctly it seems. I just connected a fader to the OSC send module and tried to control a fader in Reaktor. Never got it available in the OSC Source menu in Reaktor so far.

you can read this part :
using OSC
then be careful to :
_activate OSC in Usine and reaktor
_use the same port for both ( by default Usine = 8000, Reaktor = 10000)
_as you're on the same machine , set your module to broadcast
