Tascam GVI and Usine ?

General Discussion about whatever fits..

Hello.

I'm thinking of buying Tascam GVI (GigaStudio Virtual Instrument) specially to plug it in Usine.
GVI is less expensive if bought as upgrade from GigaStudio 3 or later, but I only have version 2.60...
So, before retrieving this expensive (but absolutely great) soft, it would be very helpful to know if Usine can host it, you seeee?

Does anybody have comments?

Thanks!

I don't know if it works.
The best way should be to ask Tascam for demo version?

Hello.

Tascam, a trial version? You must be joking!
The best way would be to know someone who uses it and install Usine Free on his machine.
But it seems that there is not a lot of GigaStudio users.

Why not ask someone at eg. KVR if they have GVI and have tried it with Usine or are willing to test it out for you? There are a lot of helpful people around there,

I suppose there's a user forum for GVI as well - maybe ask the same question there?

You're right, Bj?rn.
I forgot KVR. I'll just do it now.
Usine is so easy to install, test and remove, it's quite simpler this way, of course.
I'll tell you about the result. 'cause I would like you to know GigaStudio (GVI or Orchestra version), you must like it, it is really the best sampler for sound huge quality, CPU usage, "spatialisation" and good things like that. Bad for transe, acid, and other electro FX...

Hi-hi, Olivier, me again...

here is the answer of Tascam themselves:
CustSer7@TEAC.com wrote:Mr. Michel,

Does USINE run VST instruments? If it does, then you should be able to load GVI into it and use it as a standard VST instrument.

Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.
Nice, isn't it? Even me could not imagine such an answer!
Well, we both know the end of the story, right?
Disappointing, they aren't interested in Usine.
Anyway, I'm sure that they did the best VSTi-sampler ever built. Since Usine is actually the best VSTi host ever built, where is the bug?
Am I such a paranoiac...

Cheers!

Olivier, I guess this is humor... I hope.
Or this means you don't know WHAT is EXACTLY GigaStudio.
If you cannot afford now for a Jaguar, will you buy a BMW or just wait a few to be able to buy you Jag?

Hi Olivier.

Here is the answer of http://learngigastudio.com/forum/
james a vogts wrote:Hey it might work fine, try and see. GVI can run great in standalone mode also. As usual, Giga / GVI are stable once you have the right combination of drivers / apps. I prefer going down the path of least resistance, as I prefer playing, as opposed to the caveman slapping on the sides of his CRT. Read the threads of sucsessful DAW's built @ www.northernsounds.com It has several similar beliefs using different combinations of apps, and hardware.
Waiting now for some comments on www.northernsounds.com forums...

Giga Users are really boring.
They always say that there is no good sampler except GigaStudio (and related sample programs).
The problem is that this is the truth. So what else could we say?
It needs a GSIF compatible audio card in standalone, or you can rewire it with Cubase. Would you like me to share my old version of GS160 for a while (as it cannot work on my comp now, it's OK)?

Well, have a look, but come back, we need you!
And if you meet Giga VI, think to check it in Usine!
Thanks!

My Giga160 works again.
And always no GVI user here...
I'm patient.

Well, well, well...
I'll receive GVI in a few days. I'll test it in Usine.
And then, Vincent, I'll be able to give you an answer. Is that OK?

I'm proud to be the first composer in the whole world music history to plug Tascam Giga Virtual Instrument in Usine Sensomusic.
It has be done the 25th of june 2007 at 4:42 PM (local), in my laboratory set in a very very small village lost in the south of the Alps.
The staff was constituted by myself. All my pupils were too afraid and did not come. I have some dust in my hair, a strange grin is crossing my tired face. But I did it.

It's enormous.

Ha-ha-ha!

enormous.
