In reference to my posting about Windows Media Center remote control devices and remapping the keys to perform shortcuts in your DAW, I thought I'd let anyone interested know I finally found a relatively easy remote keystroke remapping application: LM Gestion's LM Remote Keymap, which is free (though they'll gladly take donations).

It even allows one to customize the "Green Button" (I remapped mine to function as the "Windows Start Key" as I've been using Windows 8 for about a year now), the "Power/Sleep" button, the numeric keypad, "OK" button, etc.

If anyone gets confused by what to do feel free to ask me as I've satisfactorily monkeyed around with it til it did what I wanted it to do.
Using it with Usine is especially nice because when you use it with Key-learn you can assign weird keystrokes/keystroke combinations (like Ctrl + Shift + Alt + ~) which then do solely that ONE thing as assigned, leaving other shortcuts that are actually used in Usine by default free to do what they're supposed to do, something that's useful to me as I also use a Belkin Nostromo keypad, also with its own weird set of remapped keys, so that in total I have something like 90 or so unique shortcuts in addition to all those on my qwerty keyboard to arbitrarily assign to whatever I want, if that makes sense.

For those, like me, using an MCE Remote, make sure to hit the arrow key in the LM Remote Keymap app until you see that name of a remote, regardless of whether the picture matches the one shown, as its a standard which has lots of form factors by various different manufacturers.

Also it seems to work with the media keys on qwerty keyboards, too, and can be made to switch "profiles" in response to an app being launched by navigating to the .exe, very useful for use with Usine.
