Keen to know about this also. Was thinking of getting an i5 128gb model for running HH2
Hello!
I have an Acer Aspire P3 which has an i5 and like 4-6Gb ram with a SSD.
I can use this for Hollyhock, and do use it as a companion controller for multi-touch.
I am amazed by this tablet/computer...the only qualms regarding using tablets would be graphics processing as you always know you are going to be
running into integrated memory graphics. A lot of times, even though you have a good amount of memory, it doesn't mean it will use it all or you can actually specify how much.
I know that you are going to want the latest graphics that at least has DirectX 11 implementation...but that shouldn;t be hard nowadays.
Probably be a newer Intel HD Integrated, which my Samsung AIO7 has the last generation...is a bit slower but not too bad.
When HH1 came out we had some graphic problems with cards that did not have DirectX 11 compatibility, since HH does have a full graphic redraw for the zoom.
So the amazing thing that people don't always remember is that the touch-screen is generally a USB based HID device.
I run off of 3 computers. My studio custom built, a Samsung AIO7, and this Acer Aspire P3.
I run Gb ethernet wired between my main and the Samsung and use Usb Over Ethernet.
This works perfectly as the Samsung has HDMI IN, I use it as a touch screen for both the Samsung and my Main computer...I then use the Aspire as a remote networked Usine.
The Aspire does not get hot at all! I am amazed by the design...I have never said that it was hot...and I cannot believe it. There is no huge or noisy fan in it either, more of a size vent exhaust that is extremely quiet, which I have never heard a laptop this quiet.

Sorry I know this post was about the Surface Pro, I just wanted to share my Acer Aspire experience.
I was totally blown away and still have not been disappointed...the only downfall would be integrated graphics and a single USB.
I have a friend with a Surface I will see if I can get any feedback regarding.

I've been looking at some different tablets and hybrids so your report is appreciated.
I don't have heaps of money either so a cheaper solution would be good.
Looking through the current options it seems like there are few that would be worth it.

Just to bump this discussion - looking around at portable touch tablets i'm thinking the only ones close to my price range are the Surface Pro i5 128 or the ASUS t300 CHI. Leaning towards the latter if I ever go this way. I wonder if either would be good enough.

Interesting video comparing Surface 3 regular and pro running audio software.
I'm interested in setting up a dedicated Usine multi-touch but the cost of the Surface Pro 3 (and fears of it throttling) have always put me off.
Maybe a regular Surface 3 is a better investment?
I recently played a gig using HH2 on a Macbook Air 11" 2013 which has very low specs and managed to run the Leap Motion Grainplayer, Zynaptiq Morph with a Leap Motion module controlling it, 3 instances of Melda MXXX and an amended version of the Grain recorder / Looper adding access to more functions. It all worked pretty well maxing out at around 70% CPU

I have a SP3. It is surprisingly...boring. But in a good way! I bought it to replace my daily laptop, and it's done just that. It's just... a laptop like any other. Haven't had any heat issues except when I've tried games. Doing audio stuff though I haven't had a problem. Been tinkering with Hollyhock II for the past couple of days, and all the demos run just fine.
