hi to the community.
I've just installed Duet Display app http://www.duetdisplay.com/ and I must admit that it WORKS ! (PC and MAC, tested on MAC)
Now:
- put patches in the toolbar,
- adapt zooms,
- disable 'auto reorganize' option of the toolbar
- put the toolbar on the ipad (viewed as a display monitor)
You can use touch controls on the ipad, unfortunately it's only mono-touch (because the touch events are transformed into mouse events). But not so bad.
It cost 15€

Air Display 3 also works. It's best with the USB cord as Wi-Fi / Bluetooth is too laggy.
I think mono-touch is a bit limiting for serious use and there is still a bit of lag compared to mouse usage but it's pretty useful in my setup where i'm attempting to separate from the main computer + monitor when playing.

Idisplay don't work in usb here, works in wifi but not great , resolution issues and not handy
Air display 2 (3 works only for ipad) works fine (great with the Tool box) in wifi but a bit laggy, hope they'll update the 3 version for android
