Hi there !

Using Usine a lot recently with no problem.. but since I have a gig tomorrow, now I have a pretty big one, coming out from nowhere.

When I use it, after a short while, Usine doesn't receive MIDI data anymore !
It seems more likely to happen when I there is many midi data sent (i.e. when I use the leap motion a lot to trigger numerous midi messages).

* if I resscan or reset device, usine freezes, have to force it to quit
* workaround : midi data into ableton live, into a midi bus towards usine : same result ! midi is stucked !

I tried maaaaany combinations of my patches, devices, can't fin the origiin. What happens ?? any idea ?

It is a huge problem : I play instrument and use midi foot control to interact with the computer. if it doesn't work.. I can't do anything.

I use an old usine (HH2.0.063) which was ok until now.
I wanted to see if an update would help.. but activation doesn't recognize my forum password..
should I pay again for a version I downloaded months ago (but did not use at the time : .081), since last payment was more than a year ago, I think ?

note : it happened a few times before, but so rarely that I thought it was a but comoing from elsewhere (the pedal) and it didn't matter. Now, this happens after 30 seconds of playing.
live ableton is receiving the same midi messages very well when Usine stop to.. the problem is definitely somewhere in Usine

booh, no luck, I'm sure there is an explanation but I can't find it :(
Usine is behaving so well usually..

Which version of HH?

Some older versions had issues with midi traffic. Using midi buses would resolve some issues. The technique is described in this thread:

Might be worth a try.

PS : when midi in freezes as I explained, two things worth noting :
1) if I click on the "midi from usine" object in the midi devices : nothing comes at all.
2) however, I can still send midi messages out of usine. Only the input part is affected.

What version of HH?

Does using a bus vs "midi to usine" change the behavior?

Hi Shawnb,

I use HH2 (.063), so it's not the "midi stuck bug" there was on HH1

The bus tips can't work I'm afraid : I did a mistake in my description, when it happens even the "from midi device" does not work (meaning: no data enters it at all, while it stills enters ableton live for example)

I know in the last few releases there has been some changes to the Audio/Midi Devices.

Worth noting, however there is no specific explanation of the bugs associated.

Also if you are using USB make sure you aren't losing your midi interface connection. If using a hub make sure its a powered one, or try a different USB port on your computer.

Can you try the latest version ?
and if you're used to import your setup, try first only from a fresh unzipped version. add only some MIDI devices and test please

@ Sephult : it's not USB

I remembered there was correction regarding midi in later versions..
but was afraid it would mess up with some of my patches (cause of the changes in "change scale" object).

haven't tried with the latest version because I couldn't update it... but I just bought a lifetime license, I'll be able to try in one hour or so.
I'm currently out, but (unsuccessfully) trying to reproduce the issue with various conditions (that are not compatible with the live set, sadly)

not familiar with import but I guess I should start doing that and follow instructions ! feedback very soon

thanx, everyone trying to help !

got my license, did import and everything but..

..my workspace crashes the latest version of usine as soon as I try to load it..

EDIT : I can load it if I first load another workspace before.. strange.
testing the main problem in half an hour

and what about MIDI ?
btw, prudently, be sure to save your workspace with another name

saving under another another name = first thing I did for sure ;-)

well, I had to delay the test, and I haven't tested everything yet, BUT I'm now testing my regular rig for 30 minutes, and NO ISSUE my captain !
I CAN PLAY again !

updating was the obvious move to try but the newness of the problem and the incapacity to register the latest version prevented me to do so.
while it was a little bit early for my bank account, this issue turned me into a lifetime Usine user, and proudly :-)

thanx everyone for trying to rescue me from this situation ! I hope everything will be fine now !
