question about melody step sequencer

First I want to say that I am really enjoying HH3. There are several things that I am finding easier about working with it than HH2. I am now committed to making it my performance platform so I am diving in. I have a long ways to go but am really enjoying learning this software. I love that it works so well with MPE instruments like the Linnstrument which are the foundation of my approach at this point.
Anyway, I will be asking a lot of basic questions as I try to learn this (and I am going through the manual), so apologies in advance. Two questions now:
First, the meloday step sequencer. Why does it appear to generate notes that are not in the indicated scale? For instance I am looking at it now, have requested c major and press the randomize button and am getting all kinds of notes that are not in c major? Am I not understanding something about the way this is supposed to work?
second, I have been getting quite a few error messages when loading samples. I have isolated it to the "various" folder in the audio/resources area. In that specific folder, none of the files are readable on my system in HH3. These same files in my HH2 folder are readable? Any idea why this might be happening? I would move the files from HH2 over to HH3, but there are quite a few new ones in HH3 that ideally I'd like access to.
many thanks in advance.

The output MIDI path has the transformer which limits the scale of output notes. So the controls of the sequencer will still display.

OK Great, thanks.
Any idea why the "various" folder media/audio files are unable to play on my system (windows 7)? HH3 won't play them and neither will any of my media players. Many thnaks.

The files should be FLAC to begin with in the package, and when first opening HH3 they should convert to .wav
Are these .wav?
So if you do not recall ever seeing this process. You could delete your config file and force this process possibly again.
Check to see what format these are in?

Yes, they are all wav files.
the strange thing is this:
they all work in the "drums" and "instrument" folders. then in the "loops" folder they work in the "drum loops" folder all the way down to the "popcorn" file. Then the next file "sdm gl 105" cannot be read...and all subsequent files in the "drum loops" folder, the
"legacy samples" and the "other loops" folder. Then every file in the "various" folder cannot be read.
Is it possible a different codec was used to compress the files starting at that file in the drum loops folder that my computer is unable to read for some reason?
thanks in advance.

Hmm,
Yes some are newer files created on a different system, so that is an interesting theory,
However, I can open all of them, I am unable to duplicate.
Maybe the FLAC conversion is messed up. Maybe try the installation/extraction again in a different folder and see if acts the same.

Unfortunately, it continues to have this problem. Some of the files open, others do not. any other suggestions about what to do? Many thanks.

Well I probably should have tried to figure out what was actually going on, but I solved the problem by downloading HH3 on another computer, copying the files onto a thumb drive and copying them over the originals on my laptop.
Hmm,
Browser download corruption?
Antivirus?
