HH3 - recorded audio clipping

Unread post by tsferro » 27 Nov 2019, 21:59

Hi all -

I am recording each instrument separately in addition to the master output, 9 lines in total

no matter what level I record the audio at, including super low, it is recording the files as loud with clipping in many instances

I have tried putting a limiter on the end of each chain with each instance, with no effect

what am I missing??

this shouldn't ever happen, everything is recorded in 32-bit, which is very hard to drive to clipping. what's your audio interface and settings?

agreed and good question - I've recorded audio out before without the issue - I use a focusrite 2i2, I was trying to set up tidal/supercollider audio out to ableton using jack last week and think I my have messed things up

my only audio out option is the focusrite USB, when Windows Audio is selected from the drivers options (the other drivers options are Windows Audio (Exclusive mode), DirectSound and ASIO - going to have to poke around with these to see what works

well I've heard that focusrite is not very good with their drivers quality 😬
as for jack, not sure it would affect Usine, as Usine doesn't support JACK currently. just in case, make sure jack server is not running though.
