and thank you, bobsled, for driving my life straight into a continual downspiral of live Usine mania!
Senso, I've been following your progress with Usine for a long time and I'm very, very impressed.

...forgive my vst-addled memory...but I believe it was runagate's enthusiasm via KVR thread http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=
that first opened my eyes to using Usine.
So there...

Usine is not perfect, but I try to implement all the suggestions made on the forum. I really need feebacks to improve the software. The main difference with other soft company is that I'm musician, and I spend most of my time to produce music with Usine on stage, rehearsal, studio, etc.
I heard a lot of comments like ?Usine is buggy?. If a way it?s true, because I discover bugs every day (almost). But generally, they are small, and appear in the patch design procedure or in complex utilisation. Especially, in sub patch modification, an hard bug has been fixed, and now it seems to be ok.
I use Usine since 8 years now and I never (never, never) crash on stage.
Why?
I take a particular attention to installed VST?s, test the stability before taking them in my live set. For example Reaktor 4 is more buggy than Reaktor 5.
Also, the audio driver is very important. RME, Presonus drivers are very stable and never crash, even after a long utilization when the card is very hot under the lights on stages. For example ASIO4all with Sound blaster crash more often.
Two of my computer?s (I have 3) are dedicated to music, and I use XPlite soft, to uninstall all optional component, witch are loaded in memory, Internet, Word, Printers, automatic Updates, long list?; No video player, no Quicktime; The minimum. The result is that Windows is very fast, stable, and boot in 3 seconds!
With those precautions you can make Usine a good stage companion!

Hi Senso.
I read some good opinions about XPLite. Is it realy not dangerous?
I wanted to try it several times but I'm a bit scarred about corrupting windows and have to format my computer. But I'd realy love to try it.
Are there any beginner procedutes with XPlite? Any advise you can give?
Thanks

Some precisions about my personal setup.
My hard disk is splitted into two partitions (C: and D:).
My basic system and applications are stored in C: except my VST folder, and Usine folder
All my audio files, include VST folder and Usine are storred in D:
I make regulars "clone" backups of my C: partition with a 'disk cloner', and save them on DVD.
So, in case of trouble, I can restore my complete system C:, without any risk to modify my music setup, i.e.: crash presets of my VST's or Usine because they are stored on D:
Now I can make test with Xplite, and restore the old C: if it does work.
Xplite is a very good software, and I didn't notice any bug. The only risk is to disable an essential Window service but now you can restore the old system within 10 minutes.
You can proceed step by step: Printer, Auto-updates, Internet, many things explained in the XPlite interface. Of course no anti-viruses;
No problem!
The only thing I keep are the network and firewall, because my PC?s are connected and I use OSC.

Just one more question,
Do you think is there any risk to install 2 operating systems in the same machine and use xplite in just one of them to work in audio?
Thanks.

I'm not an XPlite expert but I think there is no problem.
It's a good idea to install two operating systems.
You have to split you hard disk in 3 partitions: System1, system2 and data's.
Let us know if it works.
