Anyone have test 64 bits OS with some audiosoftware?

I thought I took risks installing W7 32 one week from workshop ;)
Do ya have all your drivers in64 bits?
improvements: not sure as usine and ableton will remain 32 bits, but might worth check.
(an after=before test would be nice).
at my cj work job , going to XP64 benefits have been important, but all the chain was in 64bits (and also 3dappz needed up to 12gb ram so no other way)
relating audio side, gurulogic must be a good candidate to answer this if I well remember.

Hello, that's me..
I have been using XP Pro 64-bit for my everyday work with both Ableton Live and Usine and even with 32 bit apps the increased
memory headroom of the 64 bit OS does wonders for general stability and how much can be done at once. For example in a 32 bit OS, even with the 3/GB switch enabled on a system with 4GB of ram, good luck actually using more than about 1.8GB for one app, even if it is large address aware. Also in the 32-bit OS, there is a total of 4GB vitrtual memory for....everything, including the OS.
In a 64-bit environment, each 32-bit app can use 3-3.5GB for itself of ram, + an entire 4GB virtual memory. As far as extra cpu use in a 64 bit environment is concerned, I haven't noticed any difference.
I haven't done any general audio app A/B comparison between Windows 7 vs other OS's, but windows 7 in itself feels as fast as XP 64-bit to me, although there definately seems to be a serious bottlenock in general laptop performance with Usine vs the same Mhz cpu on a desktop system...
I would say as long as there are 64 bit drivers for all your devices, you should be fine. For windows 7, if the default drivers installed aren't good enough,it seems most vista-64 drivers are compatible..
I don't know if this is recommended by senso, but if you want to load workspaces larger than 2GB with Usine, you will have to make UsineMain.exe large address aware with this app: http://www.musikbanken.se/TechLaaTiDo.aspx

Normally Usine 64 will be available at the beginning of the next year.

Thank's 23fx23 and Gurulogic !

I'm goin' to make some "before/after" test (and yes 23fx23 we love adventure ahaha just one week before Electrolyse :) )

For the drivers , i think it's pretty ok because the audiocubes are seen like "generic usb" and Hp provide all drivers for Vista64

Thank's for the tip of LAA for usine Gurulogic ;)
All you say sound good. And any improvement is welcome for my set up.

Hip hip hooray to Senso and this announcement !

Mission completed :)

After maybee 4 hours of pure nightmare installation( Win 7 64 don't recognize and see my N-trig Digitizer...) and some trick with Dell XT drivers (Hp are idiots they do not put the Digitizers drivers on support page! only crapware ! )

First result :

- my multitouch gesture come back
- no really big difference about Booting time(a little bit more speedy)
- More powerful! before , on Win 7 32 béta , my Ableton CPU was near 40 to 55 % and Usine 80 to 95 %
now i have :ableton CPU : 20-35 % and Usine i don't know cause i have only 0% (pretty good no? :) ) i think the CPU rate is not fonctionnal .

But well, all work better and a little bit faster.

I'm happy :)

End of line.
