i've ssen this optical tracking approach something like 2 y. ago.

guess u have to be a good mechanican to make this stage-rugged.

it could be wise to wait for the release of windows 7 (official date 22.10.09), there might be a lot of touchscreen devs that will offer hardware for the new multitouch support in win7 :)

I guess there will be a bigger offer of affordable multi-touch laptops in the next years. Multitouch will probably become almost inevitable in a lot of applications (music, graphic design, CAD, and even page setting for office softwares...)
