just an idea
we can list here good or bad news / compatibility /drivers problems with this new and soon essential OS for us..

for my part , i've install the Rc1 ultimate on 2 dual boot :

one vsita /seven ( really easy on a second hardisk )
xp/seven , xp don't provide partition tools so i've used gparted
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/screenshots.php it's a live cd running a linux appz where you an move and create easily your partition , great and free tool !

I've re install midi device like bcr2000 , nano key / kontols without problems
even my old ediraol ua-20 works i've right click the setup .exe and run it in compatibility mode for xp

and really important : my touch screen kit ( ridiculously mono touch but i love it ) works fine with their new beat drivers..

i've only problem with my main soundcard fast track ultra ..m audio always late ..the worst is that i'm beta tester for their drivers and they have done 2 seven ones..no one works for me

last but not least : would it be easy to buy a low price license of seven next year..? oem version with a new graphic card..?
buy a cheap laptop and transfer license on a normal PC..?

if you want contribute to this topic , we can regroup all infos in the wiki later to help new users..?

I use W7 since January on 2 computers now and I have nothing to particular to say:
- no driver pb,
- 99% of my sift are working perfectly. The 1% are an old version of Wavelab, and a score editor initially designed for w95.

Did someone test RME Multiface and Nendo3 on Windows 7 ?

RME Multiface II with Expresscard interface works perfect here on Windows 7 64 bit. Tested with Live 7, Usine, Bidule and Reaper. Nuendo 3 should work fine on 7 but you should probably check with Steiny to be certain...

Hi nay-seven,

regarding your problem with the M-Audio FTU: I use a FTU on my Windows 7 x64. I was able to install it with the help from some clever guys in this thread:

http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=5147

This post explains how to extract the necessary vista drivers:
http://forums.m-audio.com/showpost.php? ... stcount=28

and in this post someone already did it for other users:
http://forums.m-audio.com/showpost.php? ... stcount=42

I uninstalled all M-Audio related software and used the driver package from this post to install the driver manually. The FTU works fine now, so I haven´t checked the "official" beta drivers. Only problem: the M-Audio util will not be available in the tray, but you can manually add the "M-AudioTaskBarIcon64.exe" to the autostart.

---

The only hardware problem I have: the Korg padKontrol doesn´t work. I contacted support, tried a few things, but they have no x64 drivers available for it. "Please be patient..."

Otherwise Windows 7 x64 works fine. BCR2000, FCB1010, Evolution MK249C2 no problems. :)

Hello, gurulogic.

I was wondering if you could tell me if you had to do anything "special" to get your Multiface II to work properly under W7?

I have the original Multiface, using the Expresscard interface on W7 64-bit and can only get the audio to work for short intervals before it completely locks up my machine (and this is just using their DigiCheck application). Incidentally, I have a WinXP partition on the same machine and the same hardware works flawlessly.

The RME support forum has been less than helpful. Any insights you have would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

No, nothing special at all, just install and go. Perhaps try different PCI Express slots, and you can also insert the expresscard into the PCI Express x16 slots. Otherwise I would suggest updating your motherboard bios to the latest version, and even try disabling devices in case there is some sort of hardware conflict and also if you can, try a different video card.
Oh yeah, and definately try disabling UAC (User account control)
