Connecting Cakewalk music creator with Usine standalone
I'm trying to use cakewalk music creator as a simple midi sequencer that sends midi signals to usine standalone (like a rewire thing but simpler) as a way to totally avoid using the cakewalk's vst sound engine ( every new version gets more and more problematic with multicore load balancing, etc).
In other words, I'm planning using usine as a huge multi timbral/multi fx module. For usine it would be the same whether you use sonar or cubase or reaper. Just use usine to create the enviroment you want (audio and midi mixer, sounds, effects, vst, ) and you are done.
In a basic way it works good for me and it lets me use the usine engine with total freedom. But sometimes the sequence loose sync with the host, or get problems with stuck notes, etc. Is there a way to avoid this and not being forced to use the (recommended) Usine vst version? or maybe a way for 'resetting' all the notes and sounds inside usine everytime the problem arises? something like a 'quick reload' of a project?.

oh thanks! very useful the receive midi clock patch.
unfortunately cakewalk music creator just don't have the capabilty to send midi clock events, only sonar ($$) will do.
I should ask, is there some way to be able to 'emulate' this midi clock signal? maybe creating an steady note track inside music creator for example and then forcing usine to take this track as a midi clock signal?:)

clocker > midi yoke / loopBE > Usine?

thank you guru, I'll try and tell
strange, found this here :
http://www.cakewalk.com/support/Docs/Synchronization.asp
Options | Project | MIDI Out
In the MIDI Out dialog box select Transmit MIDI/Start/Continue/Stop/Clock and select Transmit MIDI Song Position Pointer. By default Cakewalk will send a "continue" message if you do not start Playback from the beginning of a sequence. If you use a drum machine and only have it play individual patterns instead of songs, then select the Use Start, Never Continue option.
The Locate Delay for SPP Recipient option sets the amount of time Cakewalk will wait before starting Playback after sending the SPP message. This delay allows devices to jump to the correct location before play starts. This value is in 18ths of a second. For some slower equipment you may need to experiment with this value.
When Cakewalk starts to play a sequence, it will transmit the MIDI Sync information and your external devices will start to play.

nay,
I'm assuming that information only applies to the cakewalk pro packages, not music creator which is a lite version.

floego,
here is another midi clock vst to try
http://www.thepiz.org/pizmidi/midiOut.zip
Or you could try slaving both music creator and Usine to this
