Hi!

About Asio4All, I thought it was a small stuff to boost basic non-ASIO sound cards (reduce latency) and, as I don't have this problem, I don't use it.
But I've seen that some of you were using it and I think you don't have this problem either, you are pros with pro audio cards. So is there another use that I've not seen?
It seems to me that you use it as internal audio wiring, things like that (ex.: bsork with Reason and Usine)? How do you do that?
Is not it risky for my hardware?

Thanks!

I'm far from being an expert in these things, but I guess asio4all is mainly being used in 3 ways:

1) Get an asio driver for interfaces with missing/bad/slow driver. For internal soundcards, in particular. I've been using asio4all sometimes when I don't need or want to have my Ozonic connected.

2) Accessing more than one interface from the same program.

3) Having more than one program/asio driver access the same interface (like I do with Usine using the m-audio driver and Reason the asio4all.

The later incarnations of asio4all also has a "ReWurschel" option (I think I spelt that right...), giving audio input to Reason by replacing the ReBirth Input Machine. On my machine, ReWurschel is also listed as a possible ReWire client, but I haven't tried it.

I don't think it is much of a risk installing asio4all, but if you have no need to, why should you?

My audio card has four Out, so each soft can freely access to it, no problem.
But, if I understand correctly, Asio4All cannot help me to route Audio Out from Reason or GigaStudio to Audio In in Usine (for process, balance, etc...). It's perhaps a weird idea of mine.
I've tried with Virtual Audio Cables, but GigaStudio does not recognize it, probably because it's using GSIF, and Usine, I don't remember. So it's useless for me too.
It's surprising that it's easily feasible for MIDI flow (with Midi Maple or MidiYoke) and not for audio flow. Maybe much more tricky.
Thanks for your knowledge and your time, Bj?rn.

I can't remeber the name but I'm sure that it exsists an audio equivalent of midiYoke.
try to find something like "virtual audio cable" on the net.

Yes.
I've already tried Virtual Audio Cables, but GigaStudio does not recognize it, probably because it's using GSIF, and Usine, I don't remember. I'll check again.

Hi Vincent,

Just a question about audio routing:
Can't you do the routing you want (from giga to usine), not virtually, but with real cables?
I mean send Giga to out 3&4 of your card then connect some jacks from these outs to some inputs of your sound card that you receive in Usine.
Of course it has the drawback of doing two more DA/AD conversions, but it should do the trick.
I have a motu ultralite, and I think it should be possible with it.

About Asio 4all, personnally I use it for my laptop's internal audio card (when I on the train, etc...), it's far better that the card's driver.

Rgds,

B.
