I have trouble logging in on my work machine, a Lenovo with Win7 32 bit running IE8. The login window with username and password shows and it looks as if I'm being logged in, but no... :(

Anybody has an idea where to look? Maybe some settings in IE8 or Windows that I should check? Of course, it could be some security stuff on the network, but I didn't have this problem with the old XP machine.

Try rebooting to 'safe mode' (F8 at boot right after the beep, i think). If you can get logged in that way, try running 'msconfig' at Start|type 'msconfig' and go to the startup tab. Uncheck everything and then reboot. If that helps, run it again and try checking three or four at a time til you find what's keeping you out. I think the login box is/was called MSGina, so if anything modified that (remote access VPN?) that could do it.

@CleverConQueso: I meant logging in on the forum.

I tried to create another user, but it didn't help. When I have the time, I try to install some other browser like Firefox or Opera, and see if that helps.

Oh. Yeah. Duh. My login doesn't save on IE at home. I use chrome to use the forum. At work we've got IE8 and that works OK but I use it less.

I use IE7 at work at it is random, sometimes I can log in fine then I will have a few days where I can't login then back to normal again for a few weeks. Always works in FireFox and Opera though.

Maybe you could try to open internet explorer without addons (start/programs/accesories/system tools).
or check if you have the compatibility view for the internet explorer activated, look for it at the top right of the address bar :)

Just installed Opera, and it's working fine, so I'm not spending more time on this matter. Thanks, for all the suggestions, folks!
