Hello Everyone,

You know I am so spoiled by Hollyhock's Zoom...I want it for everything even Windows!

I am using multiple displays including a 59" and 42" monitor / TV.
One of the problems I face is when it comes to plugins, a lot of times I use the bigger screens for managing these....

It seems back in the day when you used a high definition monitor, everything....I mean everything was so small you couldn't see it.
That doesn't seem like the case anymore. I open a plugin on the 59" and it takes half of the screen @ 1080p.

Also trying to find any information nowadays on computers, seems to yield the same articles boasting "advanced features", but being read out of the "Dummies Guide" like it really is something new.

So I guess my rant leaves a question: Does anyone know of any 3rd party, or possibly even a way to manage shrinking down Program Windows on a high-resolution monitor?
I am not scared to modify registry or dig deep to get things to work, just very hard to find any answer at all regarding.

I want Hollyhock Zoom in Windows! (Hint: Maybe in the future we can at least find a way to zoom plugins in and out)

over and out

A few options to think about, easily hidden/overlooked/forgotten...

(1) I'm pleasantly pleased to find more & more Windows apps respond to Ctrl+ and Ctrl- to grow & shrink their windows. (Sometimes it's a Ctrl-mousewheel...) Rarely advertised, but I find that most apps support this.

There are actually at least 3 Windows Text size settings that are very helpful:
(2) Look under Control Panel | Display | Change Display settings | Make Text and Other Items Larger or Smaller
(3) Look under Control Panel | Display | Adjust Clear Type Text
(4) Look under Control Panel | Display | Set Custom Text Size

(5) When an app absolutely refuses to scale properly, I do find the Windows magnifier helpful. We normally ignore it, but it does work. If you're removed it from your task bar, it can be found under All Programs | Accessories | Ease of Access.

Oddly, the worst offenders when it comes to resizing are VSTIs... Even the latest Sampletank seems to think we're running everything on a 640-480 monitor, and the UI is based on a fixed bitmap about that size. The only fix for these apps is to use the Magnifier. I read on the IK forum that the Sampletank UI is going to be scalable in a patch coming up.

Thanks for the info shawnb, still my case is a little different.

The magnifier seems like it would be a good option, however my case is that I want to make things un-magnified.
There is no way to un-magnify, or decrease the parameters below 100%

I am aware regarding the display text and item scaling, unfortunately this does not affect applications either in the size of their window and contents.

I guess I was more rant than specific about my problem:

I have several high resolution monitors, where the applications/plugins do run in high resolution but instead of being tiny like they used to in the past they are actually scaled correctly.
Usually most cases people like the "big" view, however I am not wanting a "big" view, but a smaller view to provide more functional space.

That's where I wish I could zoom a plugin smaller so I could fit more plugins for management on a big screen.

The problem with a lot of solutions like in the case of the magnifier is that it responds to all displays too, rather that be target to a specific display or application.

I know my case is more specific than what many look for, that'what makes it difficult to find a solution. I seem to always have the questions like that...lol

I'm just spoiled by the concepts of Hollyhock! :)

I know that it's a whole different concept that cannot be done, but I will figure it sooner or later....lol probably later.

I have accidentally set global zoom too high and now I can't get to the setting panel to revert to normal zoom level is there a keyboard short cut? how do I get the screen back to normal size???

You can also modify this config file look for
/Config/Default-settings.ini

[SETUP]

global zoom scale=2
and change this to like 1
This fixed the problem

CTRL-U will toggle the settings bar.
You can also delete this config file and lose your settings, but if you have a problem this usually fixes.

Thanks Sephult

resaving the default-setting.ini worked ....note to others the Setup section is near the bottom of the file.
CTRL-U did not work for me it may have been toggling the setting bar , but it must have been on the right side of the screen and was not visible.
I would suggest adding a tab to the alternate screen that would make the setting window appear at the left side of the display so it would be visible under all conditions , or just zoom normal button.
