Hi,

it's me again, hoping not to spam this forum with this...

I desperately need to syn a rack / audiofile placed in the grid to a certain timestamp.
In my case Hollyhock runs slaved to a DAW-Master and i want files and automation curves synced to the timeline.
The communication between Hollyock and DAW works fine, but I don't get the events to sync.
They only start, but just triggered by playstart of th DAW, no matter what timecode.

I found some threads that mention this should be possible, but none of them gave any explanation.
Even after a lot of time searching and experimenting I don't get any closer :-(

Can anyone give me a hint how to realize this?

Thanks a lot,

Christian

A little confused about this. You have a rack with an audio file and automation curve.....say at 2:00 you want to trigger the audio and curve?

If you sync DAW to DAW the grid will start then you could position the rack-activation @ around 2:00 smpte time?

If you can give me more detail, ill see what I can do to help :)

I'm sorry for the confusion.

What I ment is just that simple: I don't get it, where to set the rack-activation time... :/

In the Grid if you drag and drop a rack to the grid, it will place the 1-rack (or whatever the event into the grid)...for one section.
If you click the rack event it will expand a bit, here you can grab the sides of the rack event and place where the start of it is within the section.

The Grid section above the events if you click will let you change the duration of the section and you could choose the time format you want to use.
Say if you want the section to last 10 seconds,or how many cycles, beats, etc...

I wish there was an indicator that said exactly where your rack was starting, but you can at least change to start time relative to the section.

So, here I am again with my little problem...

I think there are some basic sync settings I which I don't know how to setup correctly:
When I press play in my DAW-Master, the Hollyhock smpte allways starts at 00:00...(when "auto restart" is enabled), no matter where the masters playcursor starts.
With "auto restart" disabled the smpte counter just continous at the time where it stopped. But there is no real sync to the original master position.

The sections in the Grid behave on their own in a similar way:

I can place the Master's playcursor where I want, Hollyhock allways starts at it's own position. That is for example the position where i put the cursor manually or the section start when I select the section.
When the play cursor enters the next section during playback, the beginning of this next section is taken as the new start position on the next play signal.

I've tried a lot with different settings in the Master using MidiClock MTC, MMC, but with no difference. All other slave are syncing fine, so it seems to be some Hollyhock setup I don't understand...

I hope this isn't too confusing. Please let me know if more details are needed.
