Hi

I'm new to Usine Hollyhock (just got it 2 days ago)...Already having lots of fun with it....
I've been reading the user Manual but there are a few basic things that I can't figure out...and can't find the info anywhere...
Maybe somebody can help?
Any help is appreciated

Anyway a few basic questions I’m trying to answer :

1- where is the arm rec button? do I need to create it myself? otherwise I keep triggering all midi inputs...

2-Can’t figure out how to record vst automation (no problem with the fx and instruments from usine)

3-can I record mute and volume automation on the timeline? (lets say to create a live mix with automation data that can later be edited?)

4-can I have pan and sends in the mixer?

5- can I change the kind of eq for each editing point? (for ex have a low cut or high cut etc...)

Thanks!

Welcome!!!

1. In the top of the devices panel, on the input of the rack. The devices that you are using for MIDI input, each one has a little LED on the right hand side. You can enable/disable this to choose your device you want specifically for the rack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. VST parameters have to be broken out to USINE input controls such as Knobs and Faders. I have an addon which you can place called VST DAD (Drag and Drop). This gives you all parameters of a VST and you can drag and drop them to 8 knobs. This is located in the browser @ addons/Other/VST Tools. In order to use this you have to open a VST and drag this into the patch as a subpatch, then wire the array and param name wires for the inputs/outputs. I do have an automatic template that lets you choose everytime when you drop a plugin to select. This should be available as standard in the next HH release.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Once a rack is placed on the grid you can select the automation parameters.

[GRID ELEMENT]

Available controls that can be automated will be located in this section (icon with several horizontal lines, and a curve).
The "out-device" corresponds to the rack output fader and mute/solo buttons that can be automated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. No there currently are no pans/sends in the mixer, the only panning method is a patch in the rack. As far as sends in the mixer no there are no send volumes either in the mixer, you could have post-rack volume controls though just like any rack. There is also a toolbox which is a floating panel. Here you can select controls and send them to the toolbox, if you have controls such as some pans you want to group together conviently, you could modify each control's "where" attribute to place them in the toolbox. It is a little awkward as they cannot be moved around, and are displayed in the toolbox in a first come-basis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. As far as the kind of EQ, there are basic Q/Freq/Gain parameters so in this patch you have to manually change them to acquire an HP/LP. Maybe think of using a simple filter to do this if you just need basic cuts?
