Hi all.
Just got a Yoga 530 2-in-1 and after optimising it for music I've been having fun playing with Bitwig and HH3.

I'm pretty late to the party and am looking for any tips for multi-touch Usine usage?

In particular i'm interested if people build in tablet mode or just play.
Controlling knobs, faders and other UI elements in the rack work really well but I've had some frustrations with some things like:
- opening folders in the library is problematic as touch doesn't seem to register a single click
- occasionally system dialogs requiring opening a keyboard to enter as OK / Cancel doesn't register click - this is particularly problematic when loading samples in
- zooming and scrolling get mixed up sometimes and can be difficult to be accurate with.

It's early days in my exploration but i've been wanting to go down this route for a while so the death of my Macbook became an opportunity.

in Usine touch is more oriented for performance and using interface that you build in it.
when you prepare your workspace, you better use keyboard and mouse for patching and precise UI building.
also, it's best to have all your samples preloaded in banks that you can switch during performance with a button. anything you drop from browser during performance is just asking for trouble (that's true for most if not all other DAWs), since it can cause audio drop outs and UI freezing. It's especially true for tablet oriented PC's with limited performance.

I must say, that I still tend to use touch where it works even when building patches and workspace, so here's few tips:
- to drop something properly from browser, you need to drag selection straight to the right (not too fast) and then you should see a label under your finger, that means you grabbed the item and can place it where needed. it kinda works the same in Windows Explorer.
- for elements that don't respond to touch or require accuracy, enable virtual touch pad in task bar and use that when needed. that is, if you're in tablet mode and it's quite inconvenient to use mouse or trackpad.
- there are options for touch input in settings, there you can enable few things like double tap, virtual keyboard.

Then again, when you patch something big, it's best to also have second monitor just for patching window (there's a setting to make it separate window), that really speeds up the process and makes it less frustrating since you don't have to switch between UI and patch window all the time (and combining the two on same screen rarely works out well).
