Friends,

I'm using Sonar 7 which is a burden to chain vsti's. With the current Sonar version, the Chainer vsti sequencer plugin does not function having me on the search for a single vsti plugin that will allow layering of multiple vsti's in a single midi track.

Would Usine fill this function?

Many thanks for your advice.

John

Welcome John,

the main purpose of Usine is to respond to almost all the situations.
So the soft can be:
- a rack chainer and side-chainer
- a multi layer vst chainer
- a vst mixer
- etc.

you built exactly what you need. no more no less.

as you're 'Newbie' (but finally we are all Newbies!), on this forum you will learn a new vocabulary:
forget 'can I do that with Usine?' and turn it into 'how I can do that with Usine?'
just a small difference...

Usine starts to be complete and now it's very rare to say 'hey man it's impossible!'

Senso,

Thank you for your response and advice. I'll get the demo installed and move to the registered version as soon as I get the workflow together. Looks like an excellent program.

Best regards,
John K

Hello, I am also a newbie and use LIVE 7. How can I use it with Live7, meaning what does Usine do that LIVE doesn't?
I just downloaded your free version VST standalone and been playing with it 2 days. I love it ...
I have a question about routing and midi ox with Usine. In MY Usine setup, it shows differently then in manual...
I have just showing- in 1: from Midi yoke: 2
-out 1: from midi yoke: 1
(The midi controllers, uc 33, BCR2000,PCR M50, are not individualy listed???...)
Then I have to click on the yoke and choose a midi device, but then the rest of them is not functioning? Why are they not seperate like in manual?
Is it because of my OX routing? In ox I have input ports:In from midi yoke 1
uc 33 in 1
edirol PCR 1
BCR2000

Output ports: Out to midi yoke 2
uc 33 midi out
Edirole PCR midi out
BCR2000
midi mapper
TIA.

Of course I could try to explain clearly what you can do with Usine and not with live.
But since I think that we can do everything with Usine, I turn the question differently: 'Did you never find something impossible with live? So it's time to try Usine'.

The main force of Usine is that you can display, on the screen, exactly what you want to display: make you personal interface.
Also, take a look on analysis modules, audio routings, midi routings, vst chaining, surround, etc.

About you Midi question: the Usine free is limited to 1 midi in/out. and the pro has no limitation.
That's why you can't open 2 devices at the same time in your version.

I like that approach!

Yes, I really like that feature, however I'm just beginning to scratch the surface..

Another reason to buy the full version (soon), I hesitated, because my sound card, firewire m-audio solo has only 4 in/out...

I only have 2in and 6out, but I'm glad to have more then 4 tracks in my workspaces, specially in sequencer-live mode..

And also remember that the physical in- and outputs can be configured as more virtual ins and outs. For example as both stereo and mono inputs, and with different patches in the master inserts if you want eg. different EQ or limiting or whatever.
