I was roaming about the web and came across this post, in it there's a gif with (I think) CDP that allows automatic patching based on module proximity - that seems like a frikking great idea!?

Maybe click-drag module and hold down CTRL or ALT and it'll automatically patch into nearby modules (or modules it's moved over) or patch centre points? Whatcha think Senso people? I'm setting the stopwatch to see how quick Senso come's back and says "might be difficult" :D but it seemed like too good an idea to let slide by...

cheers

Most definitely, I have used CAD and Engineering tools that do the same, I would love automatic patching by proximity. There are so many times I create multiple Sub-Patches of polyphony and have to wire them. It would be great to just snap them together rather than one by one wire them.
Great job on posting an example of this, I've been wanting this kind of thing for quite some time as well.

The only problem I see is when you accidentally get to close, so I agree that this would have to be a modifier key in order to prevent confusion.
Since the nodes also are a lot more defined, I believe you could actually touch the nodes together with more precision rather than the old style rectangle ones. They are much easier to see and wire to now, and I believe they would be perfect for this type of thing. Even a lazy wiring would be nice such as using the modifier when wiring but not having to go all the way to the node, just in the proximity or sight of the node. This would make things quicker to work with, and easier to manage as well. Among this a more defined and better highlighted selection of the currently edited wires or selected module.

Sometimes I miss laying wires down on the editor like in Design Tools and selecting multiples and moving in groups to destinations. These types of concepts from engineering tools I think would fit well within Hollyhock, as it almost fits the idea and layout.

Great concept, but the main difference is that in CDP only one inlet / outlet is available.
In Usine we have 400 modules, each with an average of 50 inlets...
It makes a big difference.
