First De-Compress / Configuration
Hello!
Hi senso!
Many times I install new versions, and I wish I could suppress or hide the initial splash screen
especially when first doing the flac decompress, etc.
Would it be possible to have a minimize of this splash screen or display the updates/setup in the main interface?
I think it would be a better experience if it was done in the main screen where you have the option to hide the UI.
Possibly disable buttons until the conversion/configuration complete?
Just curious, updating now and have been here many times before thinking the same thing...lol

hum, not really possible, because at the first startup by definition the main interface is not ready and internal folders are not created yet.

I can't think of another program that tops the splashscreen over other apps during startup, so there must be some way to do it....
behaviors that come to mind among programs I use that take a long time to start up:
The Gimp transparently goes to the back, and then blinks the icon in the taskbar when loaded.
Same with open office. This seems like correct behavior to me.
Sketchup used to do so as well, but now re-tops itself several times during startup (annoying, but less so than usine.) I wouldn't mind it topping itself, though, if it was actually ready to use.
Just tried Guitar rig, and it behaves correctly. Halfway through startup it brought up the midi/audio options window, but did not top it, so I was able to keep typing here. It did not blink the taskbar icon though. Frankly, I don't care whether it does that or not.

of course they are tons of solutions, but we don't want to spend days for that, we have much more important things to do before...

Well,
When I'm loading Usine, it is that I'm planning to play music for hours. Not using LibreOffice during that time is a bliss.
So if there is a splash screen for 30 seconds, I don't mind getting me a coffee or something.
make music, not war

Mm its not even 10 sec on my setup, and ui would probably not be fully loaded/functional while the stuff is loading anyway.all Adobe stuff like Photoshop, audition behave the same, my 3d softs too, sound normal init to me.Resinstall is longer indeed but is not every day case. Also think there are more important stuff
Definitely understood and agree on priority.
Actually, I just circumvented.
It's just I've been limited on time and wanting to keep up with the latest version...so each time I download, unzip, then startup and uncompress...and then have the splash override...I just get antsy...Ive been totally limited lately....and I can't feed my addiction enough
So to help out for now...I just copy over or symlink my audio directory so it doesn't uncompress the FLAC files everytime.

If you're on Windows 10, you can just temporarily move Usine to other virtual desktop or launch it in separate desktop to begin with, so the splash screen stays on that desktop. I think MacOS had similar feature for long time.

Awesome!
I completely forgot about the Virtual Desktops!
I used to use them in Linux all the time...and I keep forgetting win10 has them.
Thanks!
Definitely will work.
