Sampler lists and wave player
Hi Usiners,
While working on Usine tonight I've been thinking that it would be convenient to have a button in the sampler lists and in the wave player allowing to rename the samples. It would be a fast way to rename and keep and sort interesting samples. (it could also be control-click on the sample name to rename it).
Another one, maybe harder to implement: to be able to drag and drop samples from one list to another list "on the fly". Would be really cool (for me at least!). Like this we could share a sample between several "sampler-based" patches without having to save them, browse the hard drive, and load them again.
Last thing: an easily accesible (maybe even a controlable input in the sampler) and midi learnable option to clear the sample list (useful for patches in the style of "effet event exctractor" that use a lot the "random save" function)
Well just a few ideas...
God save Usine!

hello,
many interesting suggestions.
- Rename files in the sampler file list. yes good idea, and almost esay to implement.
- drag & drop sample list: I'll take a look. Actually I don't know if it's hard or not...
- clear list button: yes yes! very easy...

The "clear sample list" button is created in the sampler, grain sampler, midi player.
I have implemented 3 new buttons in the sample list:
1) rename : to rename the currrent sample
2) copy : copy the list in the clipboard
3) paste : paste the list from the clipboard.
Also the double click is normally used to 'pre listen' audio files.
Now this function is active in the sample list (as in the sound browser).
next release

Great news Olivier!!!
Two other suggestion about the sample list:
a "show file" button opening a windows explorer pointing to the file
a "delete file" to erase the files (and not only clear the list). (I use "save random quite a lot, and after a while my sample folder is completely full of samples with weird names quite difficult to sort).
Last thing about the sampler module and the list:
I've noticed that when I use the conductor, it doesn't remember which sample is selected in a sampler's list. For example:
- I have a echoplex patch, I record a phrase (A) on the fly and have it looping, save random, append in the conductor (scene 1), record another phrase (B) and have it looping, save random, do a few other things like change tempo, volumes, etc... append in the conductor (scene B). Then when I get back to scene 1, all the settings (tempi volume, etc...) switch correctly, but unfortunately, I still have the phrase B looping, instead of phrase A. It'd be great if the conductor could remember which sample is selected in a sampler's list.

hello,
About the "show file" & "delete file" button. It's a problem. But the thing we should be careful is to keep the "list window" as simple as possible.
The solution could be to create a menu "File/delete" "File/add", etc?
Or a context menu with the right click?
Actually, 9 buttons on the list form. Too much?
What do you think?

Hi,
I totally agree with simplicity, as it's name say Usine is already quite an "usine ? gaz", and I think it's better to keep things simple and clear rather than getting lost in a forest of buttons. Well for this "delete file" and "show file", I personally vote for the right click context menu option, ...
