don't we kind of already have this with the vst version? it'd be great to be able to save a patch as a standalone vst but i have to admit i do most stuff inside usine now anyway so it's a little unnecessary for me...
imho it would have a substantial impact on the distribution of usine.
thats just how the KVR plugin junkies (like me) want their supply.
i guess, people would download a free touchscreen interface vst for their favorite plugin.
then, convinced u can make useful stuff with Usine, some of them would want to modify the plugin or create a new one.
its questionable of course if there are a lot of people that would like to have Usine as an alternative for synthedit or synthmaker (with an emphasis on other features). imho, there would be a lot of people that dont what to make music with Usine itself but would love to have it as a vst development software.
myself, i fit in both categories (want to create small vst .dlls for other hosts, and have Usine standalone too).

+1 on thinking this idea could have a substantial impact on the distribution and promotion of usine.
Also I wonder if compiling a patch down to a stand alone VST plugin with all the editing favilities and unused program portions removed could have any positive effect on CPU and RAM usage of a patch?

yes I know that it could be a good idea but Usine VST is more complex than most other VST.
I'm studying the possibility to create stand alone VST's like the max msp pluggo run time. but it's a long way...

+1. Was something I naturally looked for after I designed my first couple of effects. I consider it as a nice-to-have though, definitely not top priority.
