I wonder if it would it be possible to bypass the vst path scanning at each start up of Usine. If you've got a huge number of vst, vsti, start up can be long.
It's not really disturbing but could we have an option in the set up?

for that just disable the 'deep vst scan' option in the setup.

If the VST path is sent to an empty path in the set up, there is really a big difference at the start up of Usine

ok you're right the vst scan is too long even if the 'deep vst scan' is disable in the setup.
It's not really a pb if you have like 200 vst's but can be very long with 5000....
the next major release will speed up the startup procedure.

its already 100 times faster than cubase.
still i wonder why virtually every host checks the plugins on init.
i guess, the idea is to avoid problems while making music. a plugchecker ensures u'll be able to load every plugin that is populated in the plugin directory. plus it should speed up plugin loading times.
on the other hand i really like the approach phrazor had (and afiak XT): plain drag+drop! treat vst dll's like eg. preset files. there might be a higher chance the host goes down cause u try to load an illegal dll.
however, the way cubase does it, is crap for plugin junks like me - and if u arent a plug-junk (yet): there are roughly 3000 free vsts!
