A few problems i have noticed with the sampler, and a few suggestions :
- The usual looper tools for live instruments (jamman, boss rc20) have an overdub feature to record material within the boundaries of a previously recorded loop.
With the Usine sampler, the overdub keeps recording until the max record time is reached...
I have found a workaround by feeding back the loop length into the maxrecord time but it's just a pain !
Maybe an "overdub in the recorded loop" function could be added ?
- When doing multiple overdub passes in a set loop length, i notice a "pop/cracke" at the end of the loop (when it starts back at the beginning), even with the zero crossing mode on.
- When doing a simple recording, then an overdub, and then an append, the append does't seem to work properly the first time it (works fine the second time i press the record button).
- An undo last overdub function would be great.
Thanks a lot, after using usine for almost a year, i'm enjoying it more and more !

the main goal of usine is to provide necessary features to build our own stuffs.
They are some many sampling possibilities that it's endless.
For me the main question is : "can we to this thing with a patch"?
In your case the answer is yes!!
For example in the library there is a patch called "Echoplexxx' which does a good job for your purpose.
- layered recording,
- undo
- etc...
This patch start to be old now and will be updated in the v5.

Hello Olivier,
I retried the Echoplexx patch but i'm afraid the inability to overdub multiple passes into an existing loop (to build a huge wall of sound) is still a problem with the multiple layer method.
Example of the problem using the Echoplexx patch :
I record a ten second loop in the base track.
I press record again to record a first layer next to the base track.
If i let it record for 25 seconds it will record a 25 seconds track and playback only the first ten seconds...
The behaviour i would like with each layer is : record ten seconds, and then overdub again and again over those 10 seconds until i stop the recording. (This is how all the samplers for guitarists work).
I have tried to modify the existing echoplexx patch to do this but without success.
But i understand your point, and there is certainly a way of doing it.

WIthout having personaly looked at the problem, perhaps this could somehow be accomplished with multiple samplers, one sampler triggering recording of the next sampler when recording stops?

@farfelu: you have to modify the behavior of the echoplexx to run as you want. It's the main logical of Usine. But I know that it can be an hard stuff... especially because this patch is old now.
@gurulogic: yes something like that. Or set the "base" sample to the longest recorded sample.

one idea :

each time you stop the record , the dispacth pass to the second sampler ( you can add as many sampler you want this way...)
here the patch :

Thanks a lot, i used your patch Yan, and i think i succeeded in doing the basic multilayer looper i need.
The samplers all start recording with the first (base) sample to make sure they are synchronised.
Multiple overdub passes can be done on each layer, and the overdubbed sound starts playing back after the first loop length is recorded.
The length is fedback into the max record time, that's the only way i have found to have the samplers overdub in the boundaries of a previously recorded loop.
This way of synchronizing the samplers together and having them to overdub in the loop looks more like a "hack" than anything else.
The append is still buggy when used after an overdub... too bad.
A punch-in feature would be a really neat addition.
I'll give the looper some more runtime and it eveything still works maybe i can upload it somewhere.
I'd also like to find a way to stop the recording on layer 1 and start the recording on layer n+1 with just one press on a button.

Hi all.
I've build a Mobius emulator workspace some time ago, especially build for musicians that use foot controller.
I've not too much time at the moment, but I will post it as soon as possible.

can't see exactly how you patch on your picture but maybe you can find a way with the module " event control / from 1 to 0 linked to your rec switch...
and yes , we 'll will be happy to test your 2 patch ( moody too ..)

Done, in add'ons section. Sampling tools
"This is a multi-track looper especially design for those who want to use foot controllers. A kind of Mobius VST emulator.
Quick guide inside.
Still have probably bugs. "
