have a look at the SONAR 6 plugins organizer : it is usefull.
You can create folders, drag&drop plugs in them, give a frendly name to each plugs etc etc ....
when you have many plugins, it is very cool !

for my part i've organise all my vst/vsti
it's easy to make some dir , drums , synth? , samplers , midi , effect
and move all your vst/vsti in the good folder
and then when you open vst in Usine you don't have a big list...
just my 2?...

I do the same thing.
The Sonar approach seems to be very complex for what it does: just a VST organisation...
