Wouldn't it be cool if many pianoroll module options, say import and save midi for example, could be accessed even when the pianoroll is contained in a panel? maybe throught a listbox? 
As you have noticed and unfortunately the menu is invisible when the pianoroll is in a control panel.
It's not so easy to implement a second level of menu in this case.
I'll think about this suggestion.
