When you click on a sub-patch the full list of variables and their current values displays on the left side of the screen. It would be nice if you could optionally choose some of those values to display real-time in the box representing the patch itself.
Alternatively, if there was an option for where controls appear along side of invisible/control panel/popup/etc that was 'on patch'. Then either the value of the variable could display or even the gui element such as a fader or oscilloscope. This way elements that are only needed for troubleshooting could be displayed where they are most useful and more than one could be seen at a glance.

actually impossible with the actual structure of the patch engine: a control can only be displayed in an unique location.
