Howdy-
How about the ability to hover a VST object from the browser over an existing object in a patch and be given the pop-up option to replace the patched VST with the new one, reconnecting all wires? 'Program' combo-box contents would have to be refreshed. This may be useful when searching for that perfect effect or instrument.
Thanks,

Not quite the same, but if you have selected a module (including VSTs) in the patching panel, then you can Alt-drag a replacement from the browser. Usine will do its best to use the existing connections on the new module.

Thanks Bjørn. That's great and a huge time saver. I wish I knew it a month ago.

So that works sometimes. Particularly well if the new VST is from the same manufacturer, maybe. Sometimes, it replaces the patch with the VSTi, which is problematic of course. Plus it doesn't work with patches, which would also be nice if you're effect shopping. It may be that the replace function is trying to be too fancy? If it just replaced audio and MIDI, that would be plenty.
