I have no idea if something is already in the works for integrating HH3 as VST in other hosts, but I miss the functionality since V.5 and IMO, VST integration is a great way to widen the user base so here is some things I have been thinking about in the meantime as a possible workaround since HH is now "too complex" to be directly available as a VST.

Since I have used Cockos Reastream VST with great success to stream multiple channels of audio from Usine to Ableton Live with only 128 samples buffer, I have been thinking that the VST for Running Usine inside other hosts does not need to be a full featured VST plugin, but rather only a data/audio/sync link to the Usine program that would allow streaming of audio one way or the other (round trip would be possible but with awareness of added latency), Usine would be locked to the sync from the VST plugin, and a good number of Usine linked parameters would be available for manipulation / automation from within the VST host, and possibly some basic interface design options from the plugin. That is about all that would really be needed for a basic VST integration with the main Usine program.

Additional features could include Usine and workspace loading and saving automated via the VST when the host is launched or saved, master and slave versions of the VST for adding additional instances for more audio channels / routing options / parameter flows. Usine would have an additional module ie: "remote VST" which would be used to connect audio and data flows to/from each instance of the hosted VST.

I am not in any way shape or form technically qualified to know how possible these ideas actually are or not, but I would like to think that this sort of approach must be possible. For example, Propellerheads have had their Rewire protocol working well since computers were dinosaurs so this sort of thing definitely must be possible?
