I've used applications in the past that had a tiny coordinates display for the mouse point in one of the corners.
I think it would be beneficial to have Coordinates showing with the Top/Left, and XY Positions for easy reference of where an Object should/could be placed.
This could be toggled on/off in options/expert if needed too.
Also renders the coordinates based on where you are in the elements.
If you are in the Patch it's the patch coordinates.
If you are in a subpatch or container, it's those coordinates. An Indicator such as (parenthesis), or [] could be used to indicate the lower levels of container and subpatch.

Coordinates Display
you maybe know that already but on the mouse module object we can choose the target (container/full screen ect) and it send out XY coordinates, so while not directly under mouse cursor or inteface corner this can be eaily send to console or trace value object, and connect a new get trace module to a textfield placed in top header for exemple.
(tho it lacks patch coordinates option, and yes a global option could be nice), but can be used as a workaround

Yep, I did that once in the past.
Actually, was like dejavu...I had made one and used for quite awhile.
I was doing a lot of interface re-layout....working a new wacky synth over the weekend.
So many times where it would have been very useful so I thought I would bring back up.
Maybe I'll throw together a tiny patch for the toolbox or header or something and put in the add-ons utilities....still globally seems like it would be a good implementation (probably not so hard either)? Man all these minor control/interface updates really sparking me to design. These scroll wheel and arrow stuff...just can't get over how something simple just made HH seem so more expansive (I know goofy)...but you know what I mean....little things like these just make it so much more appealing, efficient, and overall easier to design and stay creative.

Yes agree, a sum of small but handy workflow thing make the experience smoother and mouse coords tracing is one of those i would use too
I'll see if I can find a simple way to implement something like that.
