Good suggestion.
In fact, I didn' think about it because I never use the mouse on stage. I have 2 Behringer remote controlers (BCF & BCR) so I'm only use 8 tracks as a maximum. But it's personnal...

I have a precise rule:
1) the fader remote (BCF) is assigned to all general parameters: track volume (faders), mute, on/of, tempo, synchro restart bar setting, aux send, etc. Each vertical segment is assigned to a track in the same order (1-->8). First fader to the volume of the first track, etc?
2) the rotary controller (BCR) is dedicated to the control of patch parameters.
I set the midi channel of the first segment to 1
the midi channel of the second segment to 2
and so on
until height
In the BCR you have from the top to bottom: 3 push and 4 rotary. In all my patchs I try to put faders and buttons in the same order than the BCR. For example, a sampler with delay patch, if I have 3 controls "RECORD" (switch),"PITCH" (fader), "DELAY TIME" (fader) in that order (from top to bottom), I know that the REC is the first push of the BCR , the PITCH is the first rotary, the DELAY is the second?
With the Midi channel assignment I've just describe, If this patch is on the first track, it correspond to the first segment of the BCR and so on; if I put the same patch on another track (ie 4) I have the same BCR assignment, but on another segment (ie 4).
